How does NORWEGIAN ESCAPE stack up?

Great review!

I agree with you on most points except maybe the Casino bar. I liked having it there and just sit at the bar with a drink and play poker, but I'm not a nightclub fan. I do think they should use that little stage they have there at night though for something.

I did like the Casino Bar (Skyline) but I just felt it was missing something. It made an ok nightclub but nothing like Bliss.

Just off the cruise yesterday. Loved most of it. Loved the UBP. Loved Lovely and Joeped at the Atrium Bar. Our Minisuite was conveniently located near the forward elevator bank on Deck 14. Made it easy to get to the Atrium Bar where Lovely and Joeped work. Loved the Brat Pack show. Did not like Million Dollar Quartet or After Midnight AT ALL. Was on the cruise with my sister, her 4 year old grand daughter and my 90 year old mother. We all agreed the free shows were not our cup of tea (4 generations)!

Bring child size hangers for the balcony and minisuilte cabins. There is about an 8" dead space in the closet that adult size hangers do not fit. My sister's daugher's child hangers fit in that space nicely.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer what I can.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm surprised you didn't like either of those shows, but to each his own. Million Dollar Quartet wasn't my favorite because I'm not a big fan of the music, but I loved After Midnight. For the Record though was my favorite. Food and entertainment. Whats not to love! ;)

Thank you, eroller, for the great review! Having been on the Getaway twice and now booked on the Escape for May, it was great to have a frame of reference when reading your review comparing back to other NCL ships! Looking forward to the new shows on Escape, too. Thanks again.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I think overall I preferred GETAWAY. Just something about that ship I really loved. Everything just worked.

Of course ESCAPE and GETAWAY are so similar that if you enjoyed GETAWAY you will enjoy ESCAPE as well. It really just comes down to the details, as the core product is pretty much the same.

For a Haven type experience, does NCL still have the top spot?

Once, many years ago we went Haven, now as they say it's true, we can't go back! We've cruised with our children in Haven on the Epic last year, the Pearl, the Jade.........Always sticking with NCL for the Haven experience.

But with the other lines newer ships, should I be considering Royal or Princess for a Haven type experience?

I would say NCL is still tops for an exclusive suite experience on a mass market ship. I think EPIC still has the nicest Haven but ESCAPE comes in a close second.

Other ships have nice suites (like ROYAL PRINCESS) but no exclusive key card access area with all the amenities. One exception is MSC. Check out the Yacht Club on MSC DIVINA. Very similar to the Haven, and some say better. MSC DIVINA is a gorgeous ship but food and service are probably not as polished as NCL. Anyway another option to consider.
