We're on the Victory again Jan 14 and Jan 18, so just after you. I've been on her three times and quite enjoy the ship. She doesn't have 2.0 or anything like that, but is still a great ship. Very similar in layout to the Conquest class of ships, which I really like.

I'd be interested to hear what others think!

granted, I am an older person, and fairly inactive. When I cruise/vacation, it is to relax, and just relax...So I cant provide much info on the more active, exciting things to do on Victory, though I know, there is a good cross section of things to do on sea days.

What I enjoyed the most; again for me; because I like to relax in a quiet place. I loved the decks off the atrium, deck 3. It was so nice out there to read a book, and either watch the ocean or the port that we were in. Also, I cant say enough good about the staff on this ship. Pretty much every crew member I encountered was sincerely friendly and eager to please.

I see quite a few unkind reviews of this ship, with regard to age/wear and tear, and food etc. I can honestly say, that I did not notice any of this. The ship was clean and maintained, and the food and service was fine IMO.

I do hope you enjoy your cruise. :)

We're on Victory Jan 4 for the first time and would also love to hear more about her! We did Valor in Aug and she looks like she is somewhat like Valor?

See my post above, but as far as being like the Valor; well it will be similar in layout with some small differences, but mostly will seem like same layout. You will notice a difference in décor. Valor is one of Carnivals less colorful ships, and this will be good for some folks, so Victory is very Green and blue. Valor's décor is more muted, less colorful in my opinion. Victory is older, but I did not notice any more wear and tear. The ship is well maintained. I have been on the Valor too, and liked them both about the same, though they are somewhat different from each other.

So décor, different, layout very similar, and both ships, excellent crew and service. Enjoy your cruise:)

Thank you again, SMSACE6, for the positive things you report about the Victory. I have been reading all the reviews I can and some are down right awful, about the Victory. I watch youtube and the ship looks good. Will be cruising December 26. Family of 6. I recall you reporting about half the ship doing early walk off but don't recall if you had FTTF. Again Thank you. Gram

Yes I did have FttF, and it was called shortly after the many self assists, and this of course resulted in a long line at customs by the time I got down there. Normally not a problem, just my poor old aching back cant take long lines anymore LOL. But the lines did move quickly enough, with lots of customs staff, and I was at the airport by 10am, my flight was at 1pm.

Thank you for your thoughts. I leave in about a month and it's good to see some positives about the ship. I don't read the members reviews unless they're on these boards but some postings have been terrible so I appreciate your opinion on the ship.

I just look forward to relaxing on a balcony for 5 days over Christmas. I'm not a food snob, and certainly don't need all the bells whistles on a ship. I just want a balcony to relax on, trivia to be played, comedy for entertainment food for sustenance.

I also couldn't beat the price of about $350 per person in an L-shaped cabin with a bowling alley balcony for 5 days over the Christmas holiday which is usually boring because stores close and there's nothing on TV.

January 23rd I will be on Victory for the second time. Oddly I will be only a few cabins from my last cabin. I will be on Lido deck, Cabin 9294. It is a great location. Walk out of the cabin and the glass doors to the aft poor are right there. Ten steps from a bar and burgers and pizza. I haven't been on Carnival for a few years. Been cruising mostly on Celebrity and Disney. We love Celebrity but it is more expensive than Carnival. I am platinum so I don't have to worry about FTTF :) A cruise is what YOU make of it. Go into it with a positive attitude. Make lemonade with the lemons. Cruising continues to change (nickel and dime) but it is still my favorite getaway. Buy the booze package and it becomes an all-inclusive that floats. :):)

Couldn't have said it better myself! We're getting off the ship on Jan 23, so we'll make sure not to be too rough on it :D haha!

We were on the Victory this past summer and loved the ship. We had my husband and I (44) and 3 boys 19, 15 and 10. There was never a dull moment and plenty to do for all. Honestly, we rarely saw our 15 and 10 year olds...too busy with their peer groups from Camp Carnival and Club 02. First of and service was great. Only negative was I thought the casino was a little smoky and I ran out of time to do everything I wanted!!! I need another cruise on Victory! I will be on Triumph in January!

  • 4 weeks later...

just returned from a 5 day W. Caribbean (Ocho rios and Grand Cayman) and really enjoyed the Victory. While it was my first cruise i found the decor someone cheesy and dated but it was comfortable, didn't feel crowded and was very relaxing. Loved the Serenity Adults-only area at the top of the ship, but really enjoyed having my own balcony as well. One of the best on-board was the Cruise Directly Brian. If he hosts anything onboard, its guaranteed to be a good time!

Thanks for the input! While I have done Valor twice and enjoyed her, I don't find her decor that appealing! I look forward to the ocean colors on Victory!

No excursions on Grand Caymen - its very safe and clean and easy to walk around and explore. In fact, we walked the opposite way looking for 7 mile beach by accident and wound up at this magnificent little Smith Cove about 20 min from town. what a find!

In Jamaica we did Tubing on the White River and a beach with lunch excursion from Jamaica Unique Tours via shore trips.com - it was wonderful
