dogchopper Posted November 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) How close are these to each other? We are just planning on a low key day in St. Thomas so we figured the ice bar would be fun and the skyride would be too. You need to get a taxi to both but .. are they close together or is it gonna be 2 different taxi rides? anniversarycruisin' Posted November 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Would love to hear from others that have been to St. Thomas. This will be our first time experiencing this port. I really want to do the tram ride. Can anyone give some suggestions for other "musts" in St Thomas?

The sky ride/tram up to Paradise Point is right there. Magic Ice is in town, and you CAN walk, but it's about a mile or so along the water from the pier into town. We've walked it many times, but we've also grabbed a quick jitney into town for a couple of bucks as well. Just depends on the weather, the time and the mood! If you are at Crown Bay, then you would need to take a jitney/taxi into town for both. Do you know where you are docking? Most ships dock at Havensite (WICO) Pier, but some of the larger ships will use Crown Bay.
Qchell Posted January 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2016 We are looking to do both while in St. Thomas this time as well. I went to book through Carnival excursions and while we are in port from 11 am to 7pm that day it says the excursions conflict with each other time wise so we have to choose one. Obviously there is plenty of time to do both.. are either (or both) of these better to book through excursions or better to simply show up? blue_water Posted January 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) No need to book through the ship excursions desk for anything on STT (except perhaps the Champagne Cat to STJ and the reason below). Both of these activities are easier to do on your own and you're not attached to a group when you get there. Much easier and faster! From Havensight you can walk to Magic Ice if you're up to it, otherwise just take a taxi. Taxies are queued at the pier and you'll easily hail a taxi back to Havensight or PP. For the return to Paradise Point you have a couple options - 1) Taxi right up the hill to Paradise Point and take the tram down and walk back to the ship. Or 2) Taxi back to the tram station which is located across the street from your dock and take the tram up. The ship excursions desk usually sells refundable tram tickets a couple $ less that the station. PP is a great spot to relax before returning to the ship.
