Things I loved or didn't know about my week on Carnival

We sailed the Breeze last week. These are things I didn't know about but found out, and things I loved.

You can get a lanyard for free from the Casino and I love that Carnival already has the hole stamped in your card for convenience.

Contrary to popular belief, there were almost no loud announcements daily..Never mind that other ships not only have them, but in several languages...what a relief!

Cabanas are free! Adult only deck and were not hogged all day but from what I saw were available different times throughout the day.

Spa rooms are given a nice aroma- of -your -choice salt scrub when you check in for the thermal pool/tub, but do ask, if not offered. We used these in the steam room for an inexpensive (free) spa afternoon.

Loved Loved the Carnival app...at any given time on the ship I opened the app to "What's Happening" and was given a list of where and when ships music etc was...no more forgetting the daily paper. You can also access your shipboard account from this app and you don't need Wi-Fi. Just put your phone in airplane mode and don't forget to download the app at home beforehand. There are also kiosks onboard to check your account if you don't have the app.

You can tune your tv to dining and you will get the menus for the entire week...No more trying to figure out which night is the best to go to the steak house..lol

It goes without saying that this barely eats meat girl loved guys burgers...I ate five!!! of them throughout the week. They were superb.

And no flames for this one, but I asked if the shrimp or salmon were farm raised and the answer (which I expected for a ship and company of this size) was yes. Make your own choice...I just wanted to know.

I'm sure I'll remember more things and will post if I do. Had a great time on a great ship! :)

When did they start punching holes in the S &S card? We sailed last spring break and have done 10 cruises with Carnival and have never had a hole in our card.

Not sure as this was only my second Carnival cruise but happy they had the hole pre-punched . In fact, I've never carried my card anywhere other than my pocket and I must say this was a very convenient way to keep it handy. Especially since I was travelling with some girlfriends and didn't want to bring a purse at night to dinner. Now today, I leave on Celebrity with the hubby who has pockets ! :)

So, did they punch it for you or was it prepunched? Just curious as my husband is the only one that wears a lanyard and we always bring a hole punch for him.

Thank you, that's handy for sure to have a prepunched hole.

Last month when we were on the Breeze I asked guest services while I was getting my gift certs added to our sign and sail account and they punched a hole for me and my wife.Very easy

Does this mean it was a "herd" of fish, rather than a "school" ?... :D

Yeh, we have done that before but sometimes the line is so long so I decided to bring a one hole punch with me.

On Splendor last month our whole group had our cards pre punched...4 blues and 2 golds.

OP, it sounds like you had a good time and thanks for the heads up about the salt scrub for spa cabins. We have our first spa cabin on the Magic next October and I CANT WAIT!! :D

My Breeze cruise in September had the hole punch but in February on Breeze it was not.

The casino. As soon as they open, I always stroll in there and get the free lanyard. They will put it on after they punch the hole. No line to deal with like at guest services. Easy peasy. Just in case your card is not pre-punched.

John Heald reported that recently Carnival received an order of S&S cards that came pre punched. Not sure if CCL plans to continue to order then pre punched or not, but that could explain why some ships have them punched and other do not. As CCL distributes the cards certainly some card colors will be used before others.

On my cruise on the Dream last month our cards (blue) were not pre-punched, but I noticed the red cards were. Not sure about other colors. Personally, I prefer it if they allow people to decide on their own. I don't want mine punched, but let people who do want theirs punched as for it to be punched.

I can't believe that every single response on here was about getting a hole punched in your card ...

HaHaHa! :D You got us there! However.....I don't see where you made any contributions about the Breeze. :D

OP.. Thank You for the info on the Hub App. I will be on the Sunshine this weekend, and I have already downloaded the app. I'm glad to know it works well.

Thank you VERY much, momrox1. Your post was insightful and much more informative than the common post.

I attempted to download the app but discovered it's not compatible with my phone (Samsung 2). Ah well.

To continue the hole talk, our cards were pre-punched on the Freedom on Monday, 11/16. (First time sailing, so ours were blue.)

Also, we noticed the TV food menu thing also, although our TV never had the correct menu on it for some reason. Half the time, it acted like it was booting Windows 98 when we turned it on.... I'm not joking... The Windows 98 startup screen came on. I assume the must use 98 for their interactive menus.

I'm pretty sure y'all parked next to us in Cozumel.
