Sleeping on Diamond Princess

Recommended Posts

I read two reviews on another board, from two different people, that claimed that the beds on Diamond Princess were HARD. Further, one of them advised that you bring your own sheets because theirs are of low quality and scratchy.

Someone please debunk this before I get concerned.

Thanks.

Consider it debunked. It was one opinion out of many. I sleep better on a cruise, than I do the rest of the year. I am relaxed and happy. Keep an open mind and enjoy.

No, actually, it was two opinions out of two. Thanks for driving the first stake in the heart of this beast, though.

1. I have cruised on the Diamond.
2. I am the worst sleeper in the world. I can't sleep if there is even one minor thing wrong with the bed, sheets, pillow, light, etc.

3. I slept like a baby on the Diamond!

I agree with Sue and sneekpeek, and I was sleeping on the top bunk! I am "over 40" and had no problems with sleeping on the bunk. If you have also heard about it being hard to sleep at the aft end of the ship, that was also not true in my case. The roughest night, friday night, was not that bad either.

Hey! I was on the April 10th trip to Mexico and let me tell you...the beds were SUPER comfortable! Maybe it was because most of the time I didn't get to bed until about 4:00am and I had a few drinks in me...but the bed was more than fine...and you DON"T have to bring your own sheets. We were in an inside cabin on the Lido deck and it was more than big enough for the two of us who shared it. The ONLY problem was are last night on the cruise...we felt A LOT of movement. The hangers in the closet were clanking and it kept feeling like we were crashing into something. But other than that...everything was TERRIFIC!!!! I can't wait to go back!!!! You read these boards and people tell you to bring EVERYTHING, including the kitchen sink!!! It's actually a little funny!

Where can I get a portable kitchen sink to bring with me on my cruise? Will it fit in my carryon? Will it go through the X-Ray machine? Should I be expected to share it with my neighbors? And what about the water, can I leave it running all day since I like REALLY cold water?

As I remember, the poster who reported the scratchy sheets was on the pre-inaugeral. At that time I just assumed this was due to the fact that the sheets had not yet been laundered...and I'm happy to report that our sheets on the 4/10 sailing were perfectly soft and cozy. The bed was very comfortable, although we did ask for a foam pad. Not that the mattress was too firm, just that we were sleeping with our baby between us (I know...not too romantic, but better that trying to fit a crib in a BB!), and the foam eliminated the "crack".
