claiream3 Posted November 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2015 Fellow past "December in the UK/northern Europe" cruisers - what are your thoughts/experiences on whether the Ventura indoor pool will be open for swimming in December in the English channel? We have a sea day en route to Amsterdam and kinda hoping it will be! Claire
Mewat Posted November 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2015 We were on the Arcadia last week to Amsterdam and the covered pool was open for that sailing. I was intending to have a swim, but the water was quite cold and I chickened out:o There were some braver souls than me who were enjoying it though. Glyn1947 Posted November 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2015 I have the same question for a sailing in January through the bay of biscay. How often is the pool closed for swimming? Also is it not a heated pool?
Thejuggler Posted November 30, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2015 In our experience the pools are only closed in rough seas.
mandylennon Posted December 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2015 We were on Ventura October half-term and the only time the covered pool was not in use was when it was very choppy, but yes, this pool is heated.
leehobbs Posted December 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 23, 2015 We're currently on the Ventura on a Canaries cruise which left southampton on the 17th December. The pools were closed for the first day due to sea conditions, on the second day they were emptied because the conditions had got slightly worse however on our 3rd sea day they were open again and the retractable roof was off. They will keep the pool open with roof closed when it's colder weather.
