GreenGuyJ Posted December 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2015 I'll be visiting St. Kitts in a few weeks on a cruise. I'd love to visit and make a donation to a reputable animal rescue or shelter while there. Anyone have any recommendations?
paul58 Posted December 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 3, 2015 There is only one shelter that I am aware of and it is located in Nevis. They do have both a website & a Facebook page. http://www.carenevis.org The vet school in St Kitts does a lot for the local stray dogs on St Kitts(neutering & spaying). Many of the vet students have adopted animals that they keep during their stay on St Kitts while attending school.
CntPAcruiser Posted December 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2015 You might try contacting a tour operator there by the name of Royston. You can find his e-mail address in threads here on the St. Kitts board. We went on his tour a couple of years ago, and he drove us by his house, where two of his dogs were lazing in the sun out front. One of them was named "Lucky Bastard," and Royston explained he rescued the dog from the middle of the road, hence the name. Anyway, he may be able to offer a suggestion about a shelter or rescue, since he seems to be an animal lover (and he did a great tour as well!). erniesband Posted December 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 6, 2015 There are feral cats that live at Brimstone Fortress and I try to bring a bag of food or treats to give to the guard at the bottom of the hill who feeds them.
