Sea Pass question and $ set up process?

Recommended Posts

You can contact RC and have your credit card ready (you can put $200.00 on the card to cover this). Ask for $200.00 credit on you name and room. The other way is wait till after you board and go directly to the Front Desk and tell them you want to put $200.00 on your card but have your pass filled out with your CC on it or you will have to put $250.00 down when you get there.

We put cash on ours the first day at the guest relations desk... with them saving the CC as just a back-up. They asked for no minimum amount. My only suggestion is to make sure you at least give them a CC number so that on your last night on board and the final morning... you don't have to stand in line at the pursers desk to pay your bill. We planned it so that we went over by $25-50. That way we didn't need a refund of the cash and the final amount got charged to the CC.

Have a great cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can put cash on your account at any time. Our second-to-last night we won quite a bit at the casino (not much more than we'd put in all week, but a nice chunk) and I went immediately to the purser's desk and put it on the pass account.

I was wanting to send in money to be put on my SeaPass card. Take it out of my checking account, using my debit card, and then have the credit card as a backup.

Can I do that, do I have to use a credit card to put the money in? I can put the money on my credit card, just prefer to take it out of checking account.

Also, when the cruise is over, if (in my dreams, LOL :p ) I have any money left over, how do I get it back? Just go and withdrawal if from the account the night before the cruise ends?

Have made final payment, now waiting for doc, and am going to go ahead and pre-pay for tour, less to worry about.

thanks for help

I wanted to put some money on my kids seapass account ahead of time. We cruise next month. I just mailed RCCL a check along with the Gifts & Gear Order form I downloaded from the website (651 is the item # for onboard cabin credits). I called a week later to make sure it was posted and it was. You can do this by credit card over the phone too.

I like to pre-pay as much as possible so that I don't have to come home to a big CC bill.

what if you want to put a set limit on your kids sea pass? I will be taking 4 18 year olds on Spring Break, I want to set a $300.00 limit per kid. They are all paying me the cash up front, only one is my kid so I want to make sure none of them go over the set limit. Anyone do this yet? I have cut my kids off on occasion when they spent too much in the arcade, but never set a limit on their card.

Sorry to barge in on your thread without an answer to your question, but I saw you had posted and had to write. So you're braving another Spring break on the high seas, huh? I have to say, those boys definitely had a blast last year. -- I'm still finding out about some of the "adventures" of that week.

I guess we're going to brave another one too. Ironically, we're going out of Fort Lauderdale on an eastern Caribbean route as well, but on the Costa Magica. I wasn't sure I wanted to do another cruise, but it is Blake's senior Spring break and this is what he wanted to do. I guess we're going to fly in on Friday and stay on the beach a couple of days before our ship leaves on Sunday.

Happy sailing!

Actually I think I have changed my mind....we have a deposit down on CB Princess out of FLL, but I found out the age to drink beer is 21...now our darlings would never want to break the law and being 18 can handle a few beers (as we found out last year in Mexico) So I also have a deposit down on Splendour of the Seas for that week....issue is the other family involved...could be a problem.....so I will have a decision by Monday... I am leaning toward RCI I have points, $500.00 SBC and I have just gotten my birthday present tonight...My 45th is tomorrow (10/06) DH took me to dinner and handed me a brochure for the Brillance of the Seas Panama Canal 10 day cruise Feb 24 2006! I am almost diamond....loyalty does have it's perks. So I do hope you have fun on Costa, and I know Blake will be hitting the hot tub with the girls as he was a lady killer on last years cruise! They all were!

I would just put the $300 cash down on each account. From what RCCL told me: As long as it's not linked to your Credit Card it will become "dead" when the $$ is gone.

Hi Connie,

That is what I was hoping for. At $4.00 or so a beer, it won't last all that long, and they will want to spread it out. I was thinking more like $200.00 and a soda sticker. That would equal about 45 (w/ gratuity) beers divided up into 6 days, that should put them at about 6 or so beers a day. My goodness that should be enough but I am sure they won't think so until they have their face in the toilet!

As far as the cash on the account goes, I talked to RCI about this a few days ago, and was told that if you want a cash account, you do not have to put any money down initially. You can automatically spend up to $500 per day, and then it will be cut off for the day. You do not have to have a credit card backing it up. I know it sounds strange, but its what I was told. You have to settle up the night or morning before disembarking.

What I did on my last cruise was initially put $300 on my account, and the last full day put my debit card as a back up so I would not have to deal with it before debarking.

The only reason I do not give my debit card up front, is because nightly they will put a hold on the amount you spent that day, with the total for the week being debited the last day. I can't risk having "holds" staying on my card for 30 days after my cruise. This is the money I live off of. Cash only works best for me.

So, do you need someone to carry your luggage? :D I'd love to go along (and I can make myself available that week.) Seriously though, I am SOOO jealous. I haven't done the Panama Canal yet. I'm sure you'll have a terrific time. Then you can come home and get geared up for the sure-to-be-crazy senior Spring break. I swore I wouldn't take him again after last year, but then the Alzheimer's kind-of sets in again, and here I am planning yet another Spring break cruise with my little lothario. Whichever cruise you pick, the boys will be sure to have a great time. I don't think there is such a thing as a bad cruise, and our boys would find ways to make their own fun, even if there wasn't anything to entertain them. I'm anxious to hear which ship you decide to go with. Happy Birthday! By the way, you don't look anywhere near 45.

Thanks for the compliment, they eyes and mind are going! It has been a rough day! I hope you have fun as well on Spring break, I have decided I am switching out of the Princess Cruise...too much $$ and too much of a hassle that I am not up for. I will hopefully be on Splendour...

BTW who is going to watch the neighborhood that week with us gone???
