Firefighterhoop Posted December 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 14, 2015 At every bar I went to on Navigator this week,Dec 6 to 12, 2015, there was Tito's and it was requested a lot! Really, thats awesome. Must be new on board. I was on Navigator the week prior and I didn't see any. However, there has been a "rumor" going around that they were going to add/change out some brands on some ships I have been on lately. Hopefully for the OP it has made it to Allure! Yorkvillain Posted December 19, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 19, 2015 I always look for Tito's but I have never seen it on a RCI ship. :( NCL serves it though.
phishfan04 Posted December 19, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 19, 2015 Ask around at different bars. I found on Liberty that the different bars had different alcohol brands. I asked for Titos at the juice bar near the pool and they told me to try one of the fancier indoor bars. Of course, I didn't lol I just want some for a nice morning Bloody Mary. CruisesRgr8 Posted December 19, 2015 Author #13 Share Posted December 19, 2015 I am feeling hopeful that there will be Tito's served somewhere on the Allure next week. However on another thread someone said that they are on the Allure this week and Tito's is not available at any bar :(
nmu1991 Posted December 19, 2015 #14 Share Posted December 19, 2015 Really? I am so happy to hear this! Thank you!!!! I've never heard of Titos Vodka. I'd like to try it. What makes it special?
CruisesRgr8 Posted December 19, 2015 Author #15 Share Posted December 19, 2015 I've never heard of Titos Vodka. I'd like to try it. What makes it special? Titos is an organic vodka. I'm prone to headaches so I'm not able to drink too often but Tito's is the only kind of liquor I can drink without getting a headache. Plus it has a really smooth taste and we think it tastes better than any other vodka. It seems to be served everywhere nowadays (except the Allure LOL). CruisinDawn Posted December 20, 2015 #19 Share Posted December 20, 2015 I agree, you need to check different bars. I found Patron Cafe XO to only be in one lounge & the disco on one cruise. I like myself some vodka but never had Tito's, may be on a mission in two weeks :) BonVoyage Dawna
foxgoodrich Posted December 20, 2015 #20 Share Posted December 20, 2015 I've never heard of Titos Vodka. I'd like to try it. What makes it special? Tito's tastes like $30+/liter vodka but costs a bit less than $20/liter at our liquor store. It seriously tastes as good as Gray Goose or Belvedere to me. Tito's is made in Austin, Texas in copper pot stills. The guy who started it is Bert Beveridge - no kidding that's really his last name. I think he's originally from San Antonio and he had a Mexican nanny when he was little who called him 'Bertito,' hence his nickname is Tito. Bert was an oilie for awhile with his degree in geology (in Texas, the Gulf, Venezuela, etc.), then later he was in the mortgage business. He made vodka for fun, as a hobby. When he decided to really start a business distilling vodka, he couldn't get bank financing so he used all his credit cards and charged something like $90k to get started. When Tito's vodka won a double gold medal (unanimous judges' choice) out of 72 vodkas competing at the World Spirits Competition in 2001, it pretty much made Tito's day and the business took off. (and I'm sure he's paid off his credit cards by now!) I believe that Tito's is the only legal distillery in the state of Texas. I was skeptical when I first heard about Tito's, but I tried it and I am a devoted fan now. A liter of Tito's lives in my freezer at all times. I have even invented my own cocktail using Tito's - haha! I call my drink the Tito's LemonFlower and it contains the following: 1 oz. Tito's vodka, 1/2 oz. St Germain, 1 oz to 1 1/2 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice, and about 2 tsp simple syrup. Shake that up and pour over a few ice cubes. Add 1-2 ounces of Prosecco or champagne to finish, and stir. Then garnish with a couple of thin pieces of orange rind zest. Oh yummy, what a glorious drink! (I only wish I could get one in the DL.) So basically Tito's is a well vodka in most bars, but it tastes like a call vodka. I haven't seen it on any RC ships yet, but I bet it's on Liberty since she sails from Galveston. TRY it if you like vodka! Tito-ism #4 is this: "I figured if I could make a vodka so smooth that women would drink it straight, I'd really have something." He did, and he's right!:D If you like vodka, keep it in the freezer and try it straight with a lime twist. Judy P.S. Tito's fascinating story, along with some Tito-isms, is on his website: http://www.titosvodka.com
mlmc424 Posted December 20, 2015 #21 Share Posted December 20, 2015 I LOVE Titos and asked while on the Enchantment. I was told they had it for awihile but it was removed because it wasn't popular. I think they jumped the gun! Thanks for the recipe Judy - sounds like something I will like so I will try it next time I'm in a mixing mood. foxgoodrich Posted December 20, 2015 #22 Share Posted December 20, 2015 (edited) I LOVE Titos and asked while on the Enchantment. I was told they had it for awihile but it was removed because it wasn't popular. I think they jumped the gun! Thanks for the recipe Judy - sounds like something I will like so I will try it next time I'm in a mixing mood. If you want to try something a little simpler to make, I also love a Tito's vodka gimlet - 1 part vodka, 1 1/2 part Roses lime juice, and squeeze a couple of lime wedges into the drink and throw those in. Really good too! (And I can get that drink in the DL, though not with Tito's so far.) Have fun… Judy Edited December 20, 2015 by foxgoodrich
