MADflyer Posted December 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Bookings for Empress of the Seas have shown up at the port of Grand Cayman from April 2016. There are currently only 3 bookings, each one month apart, for calls from 7 AM to 3 PM on Tuesday the 19th of April, Tuesday the 17th of May and Tuesday the 14th of June. There are currently no further bookings for Empress of the Seas at Grand Cayman following these calls. It is unclear what the monthly bookings might indicate as other port bookings have not yet been found. It is unclear if this has any relationship to the new venture from RCL, TourTrek, that is based at Grand Cayman. The ship is being booked showing 2,005 passengers at double occupancy. 1. Clarea Posted December 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Interesting as pieces of the puzzle start to appear. Still no idea if there is any kind of stop in Cuba.

MADflyer Posted December 14, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted December 14, 2015 Where are you seeing those three sailings? The bookings are posted on the Grand Cayman Port Authority website. GC does not show port prior and following info, so no help building the itinerary. This does confirm that Empress will enter dry dock in February and will premier with RCI as the Empress of the Seas in April of 2016. As mentioned, these bookings are only for the first three months of service and RCI have booked all other ships at GC for the rest or the year, indicating that the ship might change region following the June call. wblynch Posted December 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 14, 2015 If Empress is rejoining in April 2016 they should be releasing the schedules and reservation bookings. Time is short. I'm interested...
Pumbaamd Posted December 15, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 15, 2015 Nice find! I'm excited for a small ship, regardless of where she ports. Wonder how they'll crew her. Good question. The "Big Ships" are having staffing problems. Maybe the crew from Pullmantur will continue on board. Many of the current RCCL crew on bigger ships would love to move to a smaller one. We've seen time and time again, talking with the crew, that most of them enjoy the smaller ships. Also, we've noticed how much happier and how much better the smaller ship's staff and crew serve the guests. Rick and Deirdra

Royalty X Posted December 15, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 15, 2015 Staterooms are small. They would want to be. Everything I've seen online says that the ship takes 1840 pax (and even that seems extreme).

I'm interested... I guess the curiosity factor about this ship will fuel the first cruisers to book and perhaps very good pricing (who knows what that might look like), since it will available very close to sail date. We have not heard from the US govt yet about changes to the US-Cuba rules for commerce that would affect how Royal puts Cuban ports on the itineraries. The moment that happens I would think this ship, would be the first to call on them, especially if they are not going to publish a full schedule until they roll out the next set of departures until mid March....and with this ship supposed to be sailing in April 2016 -- time is short. MADflyer Posted December 15, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted December 15, 2015 They would want to be. Everything I've seen online says that the ship takes 1840 pax (and even that seems extreme). They have booked Empress as having 2005 passengers at Grand Cayman. Looking at the other ship's bookings, they are booking this using the total possible passenger numbers as they have 2501 for Brilliance and 4400 for Liberty and Freedom.
