Open Air Market Marigot

We will be in St Maarten on a Thursday, does the market have a number of vendors there on Thursday or is it not worth the trip? Last time we were there it was a Wednesday and I understand that's the best day. TIA

I've been there on two different weekdays - one a Thursday - and there were plenty of places open at the market in Marigot. This has been in the past two months.

Now "best" to someone may mean the least expensive way to Marigot, that would be to take a bus/van for $2 pp each way that you catch on Back St. in Philipsburg which would take a little longer than a taxi ride. Depending on someone's mobility, the walk from the pier to Back St. can be anywhere from 15-25 mins. or a $3 pp taxi ride.

 

IMO, the best transportation for us to Marigot's open market is a taxi from the pier. The taxi ride is approx. 30 minutes without traffic and taxi cost would be for 1-2 people approx. $18-$20 one way. Three to five passengers $8-$9 pp one way, six or more passengers $7-$8 pp one way.

 

I enjoy shopping across the street from the open air market at the West Indies Mall, which is also on the harbor front as well as other stores in Marigot.
