What can I take on board from port?

My wife and I ate going on our first cruise. This is her first and I haven't been for 12 years. I was just wondering what all I could take on board from ports. We want to get some Mexican vanilla and maybe some candy or something. I know they won't let you bring on open drinks. Anything else?

Also are you allowed to take on some snacks and candy of embarkation day if you want? Thanks!

Depending on the port, they've been allowing drinks onboard. Open half filled water bottles.

Many times it depends on the port and security. Seattle allows flowers to be brought onboard.
