Ardastra Zoo in Nassau

Have read reviews on Tripadvisor and 'others' saying very bad things about the Ardastra and, in fact, if the cruise passenger has great expectations of finding something comparable to the best zoos in the World (or the US) the Ardastra is not on the league of San Diego or Miami, but as Stan and Nancy say you will see birds (Peacocks, Parrots and Flamingos), mammals (mainly domestic ones) and reptiles (Iguanas, Tortoises and Bahamian boa constrictors).

It is 1.5 mile west of downtown (cruise terminal). Although i've has walked there, it is quite a long and not particularly interesting walk, specially the last 1/2 mile - a taxi is advisable and will not cost more than $5.00.

There are also a couple of extra things to do close by ...

How far is the zoo from Allure of the Seas port in Nassau. Also does anyone know whether this zoo is worth going to?

Depending on what you are looking for in a zoo, we liked it a lot. Understand, it is not a full day activity. I would say you can spend about 2 -2 1/2 hours there tops, even with kids. It is a small zoo, but very well maintained. It is about 1 1/2 miles from where most ships dock. We walked but if I ever did it again, I would either take a taxi or the #10 shuttle bus. We did take the bus back.

We are both seniors and just went on our own as I do not do beaches. The animals are nice and several just roam around the zoo. The highlites are the feeding of the parrots and the flamingo show. In both shows you can intermingle with the animals.

Check out this past thread to give you some idea of what is there.
