On another site I wander onto someone had posted a thread about a post on Facebook.

I think the facebook poster may be on Azura??? Probably wrong.

Anyway on there people were given a gift from P and O of the new monopoly game.

Costs £50 to buy on Aurora.

Anyway this oik thought it was a terrible pressie, as it wasn't even one each, but one per couple.

He felt duty bound to complain to the captain about said pressie. According to oik (you need to read the post to see how he comes across) Captain was dismissive of his complaint.

I gave up reading the comments after a while. Way over 100 and none of them agreeing with the poster.

One reads about the problems the people up north are suffering, with no Christmas, then you have this person complaining about something he was given,and feeling he had to share his very important point of view with the captain.

Spent a while reading these comments, some very funny.

I dont condone people being so rude to the op but really this guy does take the biscuit, if you looked up pompous in the dictionary his face would be there.

 

Read it before it gets taken down, as it may do as some of the comments are v rude.

Unbelievable! Some people really need to get a grip! As you say, so many worse things happening to people to complain about.

 

I sometimes have a sympathy with someone who is being berated as a 'moaner' when in context perhaps the issue raised was amongst a generally well balanced review which just points out an aspect which disappointed the poster (eg food). An honest comparison where something falls a bit short is a complaint I suppose but it doesn't necessarily make the person reporting it a 'moaner' - just someone holding a genuine view trying to paint a picture for the benefit of others.

 

But this is so ridiculous and out of order in terms of blowing it up into a full scale complaint to the Capt., you have to wonder about the person concerned - certainly not someone I'd like to meet! And 100% miserable moaner with no doubt!

As a moderator on another site I would have removed at least half the comments. But as it is on the official site I can just smile.

We also received one on recent azura cruise..back yesterday. We didn't expect anything So thought it was a lovely gesture, and my daughter and her partner who were also cruising with us, were delighted with theirs as they had been playing monopoly together on a phone app, throughout the cruise, so it was perfect for them.

......Some people are just so rude and ignorant. Let's hope they are not on our next cruise..although there's always one. Wonder what butlins would have given them.

This person was probably one of the many on this cruise that spoils it for many, there was some dreadful behaviour on board, swearing shouting be escorted from the casino for drunken behaviour two separate guys two separate nights, it made the whole cruise a cross between Butlins and tv programme Benidorm, sun beds touching each other had an awful time, and will give up cruising after ten lovely cruises, standards are so low, no wonder the ungrateful git had the cheek to complain, no manners and most ungrateful

No don't give up, try one of the smaller ships.Not so much wiz bang,but I think people know how to behave on them. I have never seen anything like the scenes you describe, possibly because the largest we have been on so far is Arcadia

I must stay away from faceache I must stay away from faceache.

I discovered that although I cannot post on faceache I can read some of the posts on the p and o faceache page there.

Not doing my blood pressure any good..

I paid x for my cruise, now a better cabin is being offered for less than I paid for my inside........I thought these posts had stopped since no price promise and 3 types of fare brought in.

I have to leave my hotel at 11am, boarding is at 3, what do I do?....you vacate your room at 11, you do not have to leave the hotel....

Maybe if I just looked at the pictures on there...:rolleyes:

He does seem the type that have done so many cruises they think they now 'own' the crew and the ship and P & O and probably the whole of Carnival.

 

One of his comments was...about the Captain

'I dont pay him for an opinion.....' etc (he wrote that in capital letters)I cant recall the other bit.

 

He actually used the word 'disgusting' about the present to the Captain, kudos to the Captain for not decking him.

 

Wish someone had copied it, some posters thought it must be a joke but he did say he had a witness and they had exchanged details, it didnt seem very jokey to me.

Don't give much chance for the dancer's re-employment prospects either IF the exchange as reported was an accurate account.

 

As for the comments about the 83 year old lady, what on earth could you find to please everyone? And is she too miserable or lacking in Christmas spirit to pass it on to someone who would appreciate it? At the very least a charity shop would get a few pounds for it!

I think what most people find so hard to comprehend is :-

Why not just accept the free gift, and if not wanted/required, leave in the cabin on leaving or bring home and donate to care home etc

If he did not agree with the choice of the free gift, why mention it to the Captain, the Captain would have had no say in it at all

What would this person have deemed acceptable as a FREE gift. Oh 50% of the next cruise that should do it.

I never understand people who moan and moan and then book another holiday with the same company.

I assume when the poster posted he thought he would get loads of people agreeing with him..seems he was wrong.

Also the people he exchanged names and addresses with, will they still want to say/do anything with him, knowing how the post was received.

The word grateful do not seem to be something her understands.

I don't think Captains tell anyone to boil their head..they know if they did ,they would be the ones in trouble.

What a rude, ungrateful idiot. We have sailed several times with Captain Brown and he has always come across as very personable so I can't believe that Captain Brown was anything but polite to this person.

 

We were on the maiden voyage of the Britannia and had gift of a Wedgwood cup and saucer. It is impossible to please everyone and we saw lots of the cup and saucer sets on EBay after the cruise but we never heard anyone complaining about them on board. As my husband is a retiree from Wedgwood we have a houseful of Wedgwood china so we didn't particularly want anymore but we didn't find it necessary to complain in fact it has been a source of amusement for many of our friends and relatives to the point where we haven't even bothered to put the gifts in the loft.

 

Why can't people just be grateful that they got a gift at all, P&O nor any other company is obliged to give anything away.

Sorry DGS1956. that's the problem with the written word, you cannot always convey the "feeling". Unless you are calling him a obnoxious ungrateful prat..in which case I understand that feeling...tee hee..

I would hazard a guess you are the same age as me.....a very fine vintage...
