Istanbul help

Is there any information out there on Istanbul??? Just found out they are moving our embarkation city from Athens to Istanbul. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

The Prisendam leaves from Istanbul on Sept 15, 2006 but HAL is not offering any tours there....i will be alone for the first time and am interested in flying in 4 or 5 days early to see Istanbul...interested in best part of city to stay in, how to arrange for a guide, help with bartering for rugs and jewlery and hotel suggestions (not too american in flavor!!!)

Try using the search feature for these boards. You will probably find pages of threads discussing every thing from private tour guides to hotel recommendations.

 

We were in Istanbul last fall and found our tour guide on these boards.

 

Good luck, Istanbul is a wonderful city, had been before for five days and loved returning.
