How much to tip tour guides?

We have booked Daniele for Rome, Florence and Naples. There will be 6 of us in each group. I am wondering what is the normal amount to tip the guide for each tour.
This board has been so helpful in assisting our plans for our trip. We leave in a week! The Splendour of of Barcelona on May 15.

10% seems to be the recommended amount.

Does this apply to the owner of the tour company as well? Not a problem if it does. Someone else had posed the same question, but never saw a response.

I think it applies to the owner too, but that's just my opinion.
