Best Way to get to Buck Island

We'll be in St Croix for the first time in March, and we were looking at possibly going to Buck Island and doing some hiking. Is this possible? What are our options for getting over the Buck Island, and are there any options for hiking once we're there?

We'll be in St Croix for the first time in March, and we were looking at possibly going to Buck Island and doing some hiking. Is this possible? What are our options for getting over the Buck Island, and are there any options for hiking once we're there?

 

Most of the tour operators just spend a little time at Turtle beach and then ferry everyone around to do the snorkel trail. That being said there is a trail up to the ridge that's a nice hike and a beautiful view. My suggestion would be to call Big Beards (or another company if you prefer) and see if you can just catch a ride out and back with one of their groups, while skipping the snorkeling. I imagine they would work with you.
