shellseeker Posted October 5, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2005 We are on Royal's Vision of the Seas sailing to Alaska in July 2006. Has anyone taken the whale watching excursion offered by the cruise line in Icy Straits Point? Biggest concern is that we'll all be packed in and not be able to see or move around. Any help would be appreciated. LuAnn
chalky_bertie Posted October 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2005 Not been on ships excursion but when we visited this year in June the whales were swimming next to the beach (100m at the most) and were also bubble feeding. It was fantastic. We have now blown-up one of the pictures to hang in our house. We had a 300mm zoom lens and didn't require the full zoom. Budget Queen Posted October 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2005 The ship tours generally only go out for 2 hours. I would go independent for more time, two venders to consider- FISHES and Teckk Outfitters who do whale watching, but I went bear viewing with them.
