Oh Freeport

We are in Freeport one day of the cruise. We are having trouble figuring out what to do there as there doesn't seem to be much.

-Any suggestions on what to do/who to book with?

-If we don't find anything, we will probably shop the markets - which is better - International bazaar or the other one? Anyone know what the cab fare to these should be?

My understanding is that since the Royal Oasis Hotel & Casino closed down, the adjacent International Bazaar is "hurting". Thus, the newer Port Lucaya facility is likely better although the Bazaar is probably bigger.

Royal Oasis was damaged in the hurricanes last year but management had had many struggles with the local hotel labor union, according to an article in the Nassau Guardian last week.

Our preference has been to take a taxi out to Port Lucaya and visit the shops and Our Lucaya resort across the street. We'd then take a jitney (local bus, actually a van) from the bus stop near Port Lucaya to the International Bazaar. ($1.00 per person for the jitney) Then, a taxi back to the port. I don't recall taxi prices but they're in other postings here on Cruise Critic.
