One day car rental in Civitavecchia

Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for renting a car in civitavecchia the morning of Saturday, October 29th and returning it later that afternoon, probably around 5pm?

 

I was hoping to rent a car and drive through the italian countryside while visiting some of the hill top towns but I can't seem to find a place that will rent me a car for the day.

Have you tried autoeurope? I have used them numerous times in the past with no problems. If there you have to head north into Tuscany to see all those beautiful midieval hill top towns....AWESOME!

Actually, I did check with them but they are also showing no availability...I think they want you to have a 3 day minimum when renting from civitavecchia.:(

I suggest hiring a private driver for a half day like we did on October 22, 2005.

We tried to find a car at the port this day but were not successful. We only found from the airport but.. that defeated the purpose

We already have two tours scheduled with private drivers (Amalfi Coast and day trip to Florence/Pisa from Livorno) and we wanted to go a different direction on this day (renting the car and driving through the country ourselves).

I called Hertz directly and was able to rent a car for the day. It was still a strange experience as they didn't actually guarantee a car when I called. Instead, they just took the reservation and said I would be called back within 3 days to confirm if they would have a car or not.

 

They just called back and we'll have a car for the day!
