Maddysdaddy Posted January 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Hi all. For those of you who have seen the show, I am hoping you will provide your opinion as to whether or not it is appropriate for a 12 year old. Her only exposure to John Hughes movies to this point are Ferris Bueller and Planes, Trains and Automobiles (loved the former, little bored by the latter). She has taken "health" class in school, so is familiar with people who "hug and kiss" (to use a euphemism from the Judge John Hodgman podcast) and while we try to watch our language around her, she will not be mortified to hear profanity. [As an aside, we watched Ferris Bueller over the holidays, and she still walks around the house going "Bueller... Bueller... Anybody... Anybody...] All opinions appreciated. Thx. laurabegorrah Posted January 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Both Ferris and Planes are bit light to non existent on the sex content....not that Dear John Hughes has a lot of it either though. There are a few scenes with both the boys and the girls in their undies (boys are in tighty-whiteys not boxers), you have the Weird Science scene where they wear bras on their heads and sexy bombshell struts around in spandex. There's some kissing, there's some swearing. IMHO, all in all, it's pretty tame - I would think most 12 year olds have seen and heard worse. CruisinHarvey Posted January 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2016 It wasn't that good anyway. I'd avoid it. It was OK, but no better the shows in the theater. The only difference was they run around (a bit too much actually) among the audience. It's fun the first 10 times, then it gets a bit old. In addition, the food isn't worth mentioning. I'm guessing they didn't want to do another Cirque or Magic show. So, they came up with regular stage show, then had to figure out how to make it necessary to have it in a separate pay for venue. Run around in the crowd, that'll do it. It becomes obvious after a short while, it has nothing to do with the show. This show won't last long. They cancelled the first show for the week we were on, due to so few reservations. Million Dollar Quartet doesn't cost an additional dime. Save the money.
