Question about staggered check in in Galveston

When I booked our cruise on the Breeze the Carnival representative told me a check in time would be assigned to us. I keep reading posts about people choosing their check in time. Do we get to pick our times ? If so when and how ?

We cruised out of Galveston in early December and they weren't kidding about the assigned times at all.

 

If they say 11 AM they mean 11AM to 11:30AM but that's it. No one else is permitted in the line.

 

This causes a back-up of passengers outside the terminal. This makes navigating the outside of the terminal very difficult. Just keep plodding through to the entrance all the way on the left of the building.

 

There is a positive! Once inside the terminal lines move swiftly. And lido buffet crowds aren't as large.

Yeah, I noticed that too. But it is kind of nice to see the look on their faces when they are out waiting and you just walk right in!

Yes, anytime after is fine, just not before.
