NCL - Golf

We sailed on Pride of America 5 years ago. At that time they had a Golf Pro on board with many golf excursion available.

 

Taking another cruise in March and can find nothing of a golf pro on board and can't seem to find any Hawaii golf excursions listed.

 

Are there any recent POA cruisers that have played golf via an excursion while onboard?

I did find a thread on the main NCL board from August 2015 that confirmed that the POA no longer offers golf excursions.

 

The main consensus seemed to be that it is less expensive to go it on your own, which is maybe why they no longer offer them. Sounds like you may have to do some research on your own. I found a website for Kauai which had a golf guide, including prices. kauaigolfclubrentals.com. Seems they may offer discounts and equipment rentals as well. One of the courses they listed was at the Kauai Mariott along Kalapacki bay and beach and I assume is the course you can see at sailaway. As you probably know, this is walking distance from the ship and a nice area for the rest of the family to beach, shop and eat while others golf. There is a Dukes there.

 

I assume there are similar guides for each island. Just google Maui golf guide, or whatever. From the pictures I saw, looks like Hawaii has some spectacular golf courses.

Contrary to stale outdated travel agent web site postings on the internet Norwegian Cruise Lines no longer has three passenger liners serving the Hawaiian Islands. The Pride of Aloha and the Pride of Hawaii have long been removed from Hawaii service – only the Pride of America continues to sail roundtrip circling the Hawaiian Islands year round.

 

NCL withdrew the Pride of America onboard golf program and Hawaii golf shore excursion ticket sales at the end of 2015.

 

Let’s dispel 9 more erroneous online travel agency myths associated with NCL Hawaii golf cruises.

#1. There is no golf club storage offered on NCL’s Pride of America anymore but you are allowed to store your golf bags in your cabin

#2. There is no golf club valet service aboard Pride of America to carry your golf clubs to the gang plank – unless you are a Penthouse Suite guest or higher category, in which case you may request your Butler for assistance

#3. Golf clubs are not available for rent onboard Pride of America

#4. There is no longer a ‘Golf Pro Shop’ onboard the Pride of America

#5. Golf shoes, tees, ball markers and repair tools are not available for purchase aboard Pride of America

#6. You cannot book golf tee times for Hawaii through the Norwegian Cruise Lines direct reservations department or NCL web site

#7. Online web advertised Hawaii golf course greens fees prices are another myth and there are no ‘shuttles’ servicing Hawaii golf courses from the ports. Options for transportation to Hawaii’s golf courses are taxis or private limos

#8. There are no 7 Day Hawaii Pride of America cruises starting from $99

#9. There no longer is a PGA Golf Pro aboard the Pride of America
