Balata Gardens and What Else??

We have a full day in port and are looking to begin our day in Balata Gardens. Can anyone tell me how much time is needed to explore the gardens and give me recommendations as to where to go from there. We need to be back on the ship at about 4. How far is it to St. Pierre and is it worth the trip or are we better off just going into town for a nice lunch. (is the food worth it?). Don't need to do a beach at Martinique as we will be doing beaches at most of the other ports. Finally, how long is the taxi ride to Balata and what can we expect to pay for 4 people? Thank you.
