Thrifty/Dollar is just outside the Port Everglades gate or Budget on 17th Street...both have a free shuttle to their rental locations, then you can easily return the rental to FLL prior to your flight. Compare prices then make your decision.

We just take a taxi to the airport once we are off the ship and rent a car at the airport. When you are done sightseeing you can come back to the airport and fly out. We have a huge corporate discount with Enterprise and find they are not usually as busy as the other counters.

We use Avis on 17th St at the Hyatt Pier 66. They have a free shuttle from the cruise terminal to the rental office. Arrange to drop the car at the airport.

Taxi from Port Everglades to FLL should be approx just under $20.00.

I have the same situation for our April cruise. I rented from Alamo at the airport. They have a free shuttle from the port.

We rented from Budget through Costco. We did not have to wait in the long line because we joined their Fastbreak club. They are supposed to have your paperwork done with keys ready to go. Ours was not ready, but there was a special agent so we did not have to wait in line.
