St Kitts Caribbean Rail & Sail

With OBCN to burn we booked this tour once on board. We waited at the gathering place just off the dock where we were given "Rail and Sail" wristbands and were escorted to out air conditioned bus. Our bus driver Mr. Smith or "Smitty" drove us to the train station pointing out some of the sights along the way without really getting into much historical background as we would have liked. We arrived at thr yrain station and the train was approaching. After everyone from the previous tour got off tge train, he escorted us to car number 2 of the 5 car train. We went up to the upper deck for the best views. The right side of the car as you face forward would be on the sea side so We grabbed seats there. The lower deck of each car was air conditioned and had a bathroom and tables and chairs. Despite other reviews I have read the views were amazing. We took a lot of pictures. Our hostess took our orders and served us our choice of rum punch, strawberry daiquiri, Pina colada, virgin versions, or soft drinks. Then she served sugar cake. An announcer pointed out some of the sites and a lovely trio of singers performed sets on all of the cars throughout the 2+ hour journey around the island. When we reached the train substation on the south side of the island, we were bussed to the boarding area of the catamaran. More drinks were served including beer. A snack of tortilla chips and salsa and more sugar cake was also served. On the catamaran journey back to the cruise port, we enjoyed excellent views of the island and saw 4-5 different rainbows. The crew was very jovial. This was a great tour for us as we had already been to the fort, Romney Manor, and the beach on our last tour of St Kitts. I would highly recommend it.c9c90d02a5d2ea86c26795ee31898e54.jpg7aa9ecd00ad29d8fcb5889866604575b.jpg7d3b578173b29a0f13db6ee29e75ae7f.jpg66e6df3c46891c70df1c33db675fadae.jpgdb4c1d023cad2c1e9c3b6920b6b119ad.jpg687c7cf3c1f995dc10a1fae029623e63.jpg

Celebrity iLounge

With all of the on board credit to use, I was giving some serious thought to picking up an iPad mini on board. The iLounge does not seem to be staffed well if at all. There are often are few people waiting for assistance. Many of whom are just unable to follow directions for setting up their on board internet account. We both figured it out. I stopped in when there was one girl working and expressed an interest in the iPad mini 4. She opened the cabinet where they keep the inventory to see what capacities and colors they had. But she said her manager had to ring it up. So I went back another time and he rang it up. He said he had to set it up. I was on my way to meet up with Tim, so I asked him what time he would be working the next day. He said 2 to 5 and 7 to 9. So I went back the next afternoon and he was not there. The girl that was working emailed him and he came and plugged my iPad into his computer to start the process. We wondered why we could not do it in our stateroom since we were on the unlimited package. He said he had to do the set up because of the ship's closed network. Then he said the set up process does not allow you to connect to the internet. He offered no further explanation. His laptop screen did not seem to be moving. He said his computer needed to perform some updates and the process might take an hour. He would have my ipad mini delivered to the stateroom. So we went back to the stateroom for tea, got ready for the evening, and found the iPad on the bed when we got back after dinner. The date had not been set. So we did that and we got my email set up. I started trying it out. This is my first apple product besides my ipod and I am really enjoying it. I think they might sell more on board if the iLounge was better staffed. That's just my opnion.

Paul- we were in car 4 on the train. Very enjoyable trip. I have video of the girls singing beautifully-pitch perfect harmonies which I'll embed in my review. Such talent and enthusiasm there! Nice people involved in that excursion-both the train crew and the catamaran guys.
