Seal Posted November 13, 2005 #26 Share Posted November 13, 2005 The Hyatt Regency is right in the middle of everything--Shoreline Village-and the new Pike area--Lots of restaurants--movie theater etc--I don't know if the Comedy Store--or whatever its name is is open yet You are also close to Pine Avenue restaurants--just North of Ocean Blvd Wouldn't go over 2-3 blocks up Pine at night--really not a problem, but you'll find restaurants in the 2nd and 3rd blocks Have fun:) :) Nancy
Shan1976 Posted November 15, 2005 #27 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Has anyone ever stayed on the Queen Mary prior to cruising? We are hoping to stay the night before our cruise on the Carnival Paradise out of Long Beach. Is the Queen Mary located close to where we will be embarking? How are the accomodations? ronrythm Posted November 15, 2005 #28 Share Posted November 15, 2005 The QM is right next to the Carnival dock, in fact they do early registration there. Here is a link to a thread with some links about the QM. Check out Derf's post. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=238565&highlight=queen+mary
Rare little britain Posted February 25, 2006 #29 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Glad I was able to help. Hope you enjoy your stay here in Long Beach. Be sure to check out the new Pike area in Long Beach , also Shoreline Village, couple restaurants would be Parkers Lighthouse and Yard House, and there are several nice place to eat at the Pike area and on Ocean Blvd. The little bus that will take you around the area is called the Passport (red) that should be of some help. When you board the ship in San Pedro look down the canal toward the bridge and you will see an old restored victory ship(small compared to the large cruise ships) that has been in 3 wars, it is docked right there at the port, it is called the Lane Victory, we were down there a couple weeks ago , was neat to see. Hope you enjoy your trip. Cori Cori - just want to say many thanks for all your help -the Coast was a great little hotel and we took the Passport bus into town and had dinner at Parkers Lighthouse......just as you suggested! Would recommend this to everyone!
pool girl Posted February 26, 2006 #30 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Hi, I live here in the Long Beach area (Lakewood) and the above poster is correct. If you are on the Sapphire it will be San Pedro, which is about a 10 to 15 minute drive from downtown Long Beach. The Coast hotel is fine and the transtportation system you referred to is the Passport bus, it will get you around where you need to go, except to the San Pedro port, that will be a taxi should cost about $ 20 to 25. The Shoreline village is nice, but the new Pike area is alot of fun to right by the big Long Beach Aquarium and Convention Center. A lot of nice restaurants in the immediate area. One comment would be if you haven't gotten you airfare yet, you might check into flying into and out of Long Beach Airport, much easier and nicer than LAX , LB airport is a small airport with limited flights( American airlines, Jet Blue , American West, all go here) but if you can make the connection it is really worth it. Hope you have a great time in Vegas also. Cori Hi Cori: We will be staying 2 nights at the hyatt regency in Long beach. First night we are going to rest. Second day we are going to go to the Queen Mary and the aquarium. We are going on our cruise April 18/06. How far is it to the san pedro cruise terminal? How much approx will a cab be. We will be going on the ncl star. Also what is the best way to get to the sites we want to see. My husband is in a wheel chair can we walk to the Queen Mary and aquarium? Sorry for all the questions.
