Cellular Service while at Port

I am Canadian and I just found out I am not elligible for the USA travel roam plan with my cellular provider and I was depending on it. I do have an unlocked Iphone 4 which I normally use for travel purchasing SIM cards when abroad. Problem is we leave on Saturday for our cruise and was relying on my normal plan until the bad news today so I have not planned properly.

Does anyone know if and how you can purchase a SIM card for an unlocked phone which covers USA, Puerto Rico and USVI for travel or even possible a throw away phone to use while in ports? We are doing the Eastern cruise and flying into FLL to depart from POM

I'd look into tmobile.

You can get a no contract plan for 1 month then cancel.

 

Based on the region you mentioned it should be all covered and their international coverage (free text and data) is extremely generous.

You could also buy an ATT GoPhone SIM which would give you coverage throughout the USA and Canada. They have various plans with no contractual obligations...

Walmart has several plans that are pay as you go and do Sprint, T Mobile. The problemwill be in figuring out who has sim cards in stock. would think Sprint and T Mobile probably easiest by going into one of their shops and they can do it all there. Took about an hour last time we did it in Canada.

Look into Roam Mobility. By Canadians, For Canadians, Love Canadians. I been using them for several years when travelling in the USA. Does not work for Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Jellystone.
