To Hell and Back

We will be in Grand Cayman on our port day from 7:00 to 4:00. We have an excursion booked from 11:45 to 12:45. We want to go to Hell to send the requisite post cards and get a couple of souvenirs. How long will it take to get to Hell and back? Can we fit this in, and if so, what is the best way to do this? Thanks!

A taxi would be pretty pricey ... you might want to check into the bus schedule ... we've taken the bus from downtown out to the Turtle Farm (to do scuba at Divetech next door) and the return trip to town looped back thru Hell ....

Buses are cheap we took it to the turtle farm, after that the rum cake next door we decided to walk to hell. If you walk alot, like we do its not far at all. maybe over 1 mile. Go down the same road around the curve. We turn right on a street then turn left and its on the street. You see a bar first then the post office, not much of hell. Also go in back you see the devil. After that we walked more to the nearest public beach by a boat dock. You have no problem gettin a bus if you are walking they'll beep at you. You wave them down or find a bus stop. This is a good route if you want to save money.

Please define "pricey",,,approximately how many US Dollars would the taxi fare be from the pier to Hell and back? Also, how long is the round trip by bus, and how long by taxi?

We took a taxi out to the Turtle Farm, and if I remember correctly, it was around $20 - which was not to bad as there was 4 of us w/dive gear. We couldn't catch an available taxi to get back (and the one we called didn't show) which was how we discovered the bus the first time. The bus driver was nice enough to stop, explain how it worked, and got us back to town. The next trip, we just headed to the bus area next to the library on the main square. As for time ... going out I'd say maybe 10-15 minutes (to the Turtle Farm), coming back was longer. We spent the time talking to the locals on the bus, so we weren't really watching the clock ....
