Car Rental in Nassau

Has anyone rented a car in Nassau? We will be there from 7:00AM to Midnight. If so, how much is a cab to the airport? Was there enough to see and do around the island that made it worth it?

No need to go to the airport to pick up a car. Avis and budget both have locations within a short walk of the port.

Honestly, I don't recommend driving around the island without knowing where you are going. Crime is a big issue, especially away from the tourist areas. They target rental cars, which are easy to recognize.

 

Take the #10 jitney for a ride along the water front. or grab a tour guide outside the port exit and ask him/her to show you around.

 

After dusk... cab it only.

I somewhat agree with scubagirrl on this. Also, unless you are comfortable with driving on the left-hand side of the road, in a car with the wheel on the right-hand side, I do not recommend it. It is not impossible, it is just different. Took us a while to get used to.

We have done many daytime excursions in Nassau- but go back to the ship before dark- always.
