rvsullivan Posted February 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2016 They have both. At least one table every night if there is any interest. One tournament.

Doughboy139 Posted February 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2016 What are the buy ins for the tournaments? Most of the time it is $80.00 entry fee....with buy-ins and add-on at $80.00 for the first hour.
Derek Sutton Posted February 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2016 thanks for the info, i'm sailing on February 20th and not really into any other casino games I didn't bother with the tourneys, the buy in is $80, NCL rakes 25%. You start with 20K and the blinds start at 1k and 2k.

wickerpepper Posted February 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2016 The rake for the cash game is pretty high as well.
Doughboy139 Posted February 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 9, 2016 I didn't bother with the tourneys, the buy in is $80, NCL rakes 25%. You start with 20K and the blinds start at 1k and 2k. You start with $2,000 and the blinds start at $100/200 for the first 15 minutes and then go to $200/400 for the next 15 minutes and then $300/600 for 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes is $500/1,000. They then have a fifteen break. If your money goes below $2,000 chips or you bust anytime during the first hour, then you can do a re-buy for $80.00........during the break you can do a one time Add-on for $80.00 and get $4,000 in chips.....There is no more re-buys or add-ons when play begins after the break and the blinds start at $1,000/2,000 and increase every 15 minutes until there is a winner or the remaining players agree to split the pot. Doughboy139 Posted February 10, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 10, 2016 ok thanks , I guess that a little better than 1K-2K starting blinds. lol do you know what the blinds were for the cash game? For the cash game that people play at nite, the blinds are $1/$2 but it is unlimited so if somebody wants to raise you $5 or $10 etc then they can. cubsfan2008 Posted February 11, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) I played the tournament twice. It was fun but fast. We averaged about 60 players. You are basically forced to buy in again as everyone did at the one hour mark, do for an additional u 80 dollars you increased 4k chips. I made 7th place and received a gold norwegian coin. I do have to say the dealers were not very good and we had a lot of arguing between players and dealers. They flipped ALOT of cards while dealing and didn't redeal entire hand, rather replaced the flipped card. Amateur things like that were commonplace. skeeter195 Posted February 11, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I have been on the Gem three times and Breakaway twice within the last 3 years and it has always been 2/5 no limit for the cash games. One night last year on the Gem when it got down to 6 handed, we all agreed to 2/5 with a 20 minimum bring in. We played this way for about 3 hours until someone new came to the table and did not want the 20 min, so we had to switch it back.

I also did not like the fact that the blackjack tables used those auto card shufflers with endless cards. It isn't like Vegas where you play till the 3 decks of cards go through and reshuffle. I didn't see anyone successful really and my group alone dropped over a few thousand. On the last night we did ask the pit boss if Norwegian casinos are regulated by an independent company and she said no. We don't really get upset we lost money as I lose and win all the time, I just don't know if the casino was actually fair/legit, and that bothers me a bit. Next time I will save my money for casinos within the US and just enjoy the ship.
