CrazyPartyOf4 Posted February 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2016 I read something about cake pops on Carnival ships but only on certain nights. Can anyone give me the info on this? We will be on the Dream in August and do not want to miss these! My kids love cake pops, but I'm not gonna lie - I'm pretty sure mama loves them even more. Can you tell where my priorities are??? I say this as I am high proteining/low carbing/working out like a mad woman - but on vacation, I will be eating what I want. [emoji3]
Christine in MO Posted February 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2016 On the Breeze in September they had strawberry cake pops on embarkation day in the buffet dessert area I believe. But I do know that it was on embarkation day.
maeormaenot Posted February 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2016 On all three of the cruises I've been on...cake pops on embarkation day, lido buffet. I'll be on the dream in a little over a week, I'll check for them then. Hubbs loves them...me, not so much!

KPfromCT Posted February 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2016 When we were on the Breeze in 2015, yes, they did have the strawberry ones, which were GROSS!!! BUT, then ONE day, during lunch, they had chocolate ones. O.M.G.:D:D So moist and almost like they had hot fudge on them. They were to DIE for. Must have had like 6 of them!:eek: Yum!!! QTPieRye Posted February 9, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 9, 2016 My husband hasn't stopped talking about the strawberry cake pops on embarkation day on the Liberty last month! I have to admit.. they were delicious!
DDNY Posted February 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2016 On the Sunshine last week they had strawberry cake pops on embarkation day in the dessert section of the buffet. DD said she liked them but they were pretty sweet....
WAHMto5 Posted February 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 9, 2016 Last time on the Breeze they had the strawberry one day and the chocolate another. None of us liked the strawberry, but we all loved the chocolate ones!

Butterbean1000 Posted February 10, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 10, 2016 I finally tried them on the Liberty and I was very disappointed. They tasted like raw cake batter. I don't know if this was just a bad batch, but I'll probably never try them again. They were that bad.
funinthesun1964 Posted February 10, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 10, 2016 If this is what you all are talking about, they were gross. I took a bite of one and didn't want to waste the calories on the rests of it.
LostPuppy Posted February 10, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 10, 2016 I don't even know what a "cake pop" is and I got off a Carnival cruise just last week. Never got into sweets, I think I had a piece of cheesecake one night and some extra-chocolatey cake thing for the entire 10 day cruise....
bingo3 Posted February 10, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 10, 2016 I have seen some cake pop recipes where you mix icing with the cake part, to help form the ball, hence the moistness and why they may seem raw.....no clue if that is the way CCL makes theirs. CrazyPartyOf4 Posted February 10, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) I have seen some cake pop recipes where you mix icing with the cake part, to help form the ball, hence the moistness and why they may seem raw.....no clue if that is the way CCL makes theirs. That's the way they should be made. All that I've ever had (and loved) were made this way. Yum! Edited February 10, 2016 by CrazyPartyOf4
h3yitsvictoria Posted February 10, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 10, 2016 Ew. I found these on the Lido. Not worth the calories as they were disgusting.
13cheermom Posted February 10, 2016 #17 Share Posted February 10, 2016 This is funny, either somebody loves them or either they were disgusting. Guess it does depend on the ship and how they are made. Tried them on the Sunshine in October and they were a melted hot mess and not very flavorful. But on the Breeze in December the icing was solid and they weren't that bad. To each their own, that's the good thing about buffets you can try it and decide whether you like it or not. :D

Some people love eating such high-calorie, low-nutrition items, I don't.

I think it depends on if they have ever had a Real cake pop before. I don't think the ones on Carnival are even cake. Certainly not comparable to a home made cake pop. I've seen them a few times on the Lido during lunch. I tasted them but as others said they were not good enough to even waste the calories. BTHodgeman Posted February 10, 2016 #21 Share Posted February 10, 2016 Does Carnival only offer these on the first day? It's the only time we saw them on our 7-day in December. I grabbed a handful and they were delicious. Was hoping to see them again throughout the cruise, but never did.
LostPuppy Posted February 10, 2016 #22 Share Posted February 10, 2016 What a crappy response. I hope you feel good about yourself and never find yourself knocked off of your high horse. I believe you are taking my remarks out of content. The post I was responding to inferred the reason some people don't like these items is due to the ship and how they are made. I asserted the reason some people don't like them is because of nutritional content and personal choice. Again, some people like such things, but I don't. If you feel I am on a "high horse" so be it. 13cheermom Posted February 10, 2016 #23 Share Posted February 10, 2016 Well guess I do enjoy some high calorie splurge every now and then. Just so you know I'm not overweight, lol. But it is called a vacation for a reason [emoji6]. Like I stated before to each their own.

Rare skittl1321 Posted February 10, 2016 #25 Share Posted February 10, 2016 I think it's due more personal choice as to one's diet. Some people love eating such high-calorie, low-nutrition items, I don't. I personally LOVE high-calorie low nutrition items. Mmm- sugar and fat! Yum. Those two things most often accompany excellent taste, and the lack of them often means lack of excellent taste (though not always). However, I did not enjoy the strawberry cake pops. I'm not eating them just for the calories, as I'm not trying to sustain life on strawberry cake pops, so I stopped eating after one bite. Despite my love for high-calorie, low-nutrition items, Carnival's cake pops did not pass the test. Yuck. Most of Carnival's desserts are like that for me- looks super pretty, isn't actually that good.
