the oddest onboard job title

Last month on the Nieuw Amsterdam we rode the elevator with a crewman whose badge had one of the oddest job titles I have seen -- "Lampooner". I asked CD Mario if this was the person who wrote jokes for the entertainers, but he denied it.

When I worked for Royal Viking Line in the 1980s, the porters who carried luggage around the ship were called "piccolos." Never heard that term since.
