Question: B2B with a Twist

I have a B2B planned this May. The first leg is a brother's cruise with my dad and two brothers. For the second leg, my dad and brothers get off and my wife and 16 year old son get on. Has anyone ever done something similar to this and do you know if I will have to get off the boat to check in since my entire party won't be on board or will I be able to stay on and have the rest of my room check in when they arrive?

Any advice or tips? Thanks in advance.

We did the same thing a few years ago, but instead of family it was an exchange of friends. You will have to get off the boat to go through customs and then right back on if you want. Then you just wait on an empty boat for your family to join you.

According to a PVP I talked with, if you have the same room, you can stay on-board. If not, then you have to get off and check-in again.

Other threads mention B2B people meeting in the ship's lounge to go through immigration.

I presume that your brothers will take off a suitcase of yours with your dirty laundry, and your wife will bring you a clean set of clothes.

Or you can use the time between to do laundry. :) That's what we did on our B2B. Took about an hour since I let most everything hang dry on the laundry line in the shower.

No you don't have to stand in line to re-check in. On both of my B2Bs a letter was in the cabin mailbox 2 days before the end of the cruise. It told us to meet in front of Guest Service at 10:00 am after everyone else had debarked the ship. We were then given our new Sail & Sign cards and escorted off the ship to go through customs and then lead back on the ship where a picture was taken of the B2B group (there was 7 of us). We were than offered a free drink at the atrium bar where we sat and waited for the new people to board the ship.

Be careful if you do your laundry while the ship is turning around. They do shut the water pressure down to almost nothing. I didn't know & my cloths were covered with black looked like grease. Also don't take a shower during that time, I got caught in the shower full of soap & the water went off. It was funny & GS had a good laugh. :D

I have two B to B's planned later this year. We can do our laundry in the mornings! Great Idea!

The PVP is incorrect. You always have to clear the ship between B2Bs. The ship needs to zero out before admitted new cruisers. Most of the time, all the B2Bs are lead off the ship, through Customs and back on. In rare situations, Customs may come onboard, but that is rare, maybe for a large group and when it is pre-arranged.

Done B2B on Princess in San Pedro and on Carnival out of NOLA. Both times the B2B pax met in a specific place, got off the ship and waited to reboard. We were first to board.

On Carnival we had to check in for the second cruise. Each cruise had its own shipboard account as it wasn't rolled over.

Our Princess cruise was almost exactly like yours. First cruise with DH, second with Mom and Sis. Only question was about the Customs Declaration Form. DH turned ours in for the first cruise, I filled one out for the second.
