jayscore Posted February 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2016 We will be docked at Curacao from 1:00PM 'till 11:00PM . Will the casino on the ship be shut down during this time? Thanks in advance!
ladygal4.4 Posted February 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Isn't the casino closed in every port? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ready2cruzagain Posted February 16, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2016 We were just in Curacao and yes the casino was closed while we were in port, as a matter of fact, it was closed while in every port. It should open up 30 minutes after sail away.
springs741 Posted February 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2016 It was when I was there last year on the Freedom Repo. We were scheduled to leave there earlier than you but were delayed for a medical evacuation.

SMSACE6 Posted February 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I've been reading some posts where people are stating the casino stayed open while in Grand Turk this was the case when I was there in October, but is the only place where I have seen this, and I have no idea why it is an anomaly. Have never seen a ship casino open while in port anywhere else.
SeaGoingDAD Posted February 16, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Yes it's closed. You can probably count on a peace sign the amount of ports that allow ships casinos to remain open.
cruisinqt Posted February 16, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I've never seen the casino open while we were in port and we've done a lot of cruises. But it must happen once in a long long while since some cruisers are posting that it's been open for them. Maybe there have been extenuating circumstances that made it happen like missing a port and having extended time in another port. When we were in Curacao it wasn't open while we were in port but as soon as we set sail it opened. Most cruise lines have an agreement with the ports that they will close while they are in port in order to encourage everyone on board to get off the ship and spend money. Especially if it's a port that has casinos, you can pretty much bet that the ships casino won't be open. I'm sure the casinos in Curacao want you to spend your money in their casinos, not the ships. jayscore Posted February 16, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Thanks for the replies! I too, know the casino is closed in most ports. The reason I asked is because I've never been in a port that late before, therefore the question. Thanks again, all!
Riemercruisin Posted February 16, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 16, 2016 There is a casino in the cruise village right at the dock. Carnival Casino at the Renaissance hotel with better pay out than the ship's casino.
Topo Gigio Posted February 16, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 16, 2016 There is a casino in the cruise village right at the dock. Carnival Casino at the Renaissance hotel with better pay out than the ship's casino. This is correct. It's a 5 min walk from the ship to the casino @ The Renaissance Hotel. You can even win a Kia car. Every other week someone wins a car. More than 110 people have already won one! To win the car you have to go to the dedicated slot machines. Vitamin_Sea Posted February 16, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) I think in Bermuda the casino is open while in port 9-5. Since a ship is usually there 2/3 days. Edited February 16, 2016 by Vitamin_Sea
vamartha Posted February 17, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Yes, but get off the ship and walk forward and slightly right for about two blocks and you'll find a casino. Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino
nednrom Posted February 17, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Bermuda and Nassau are the only ports the cruise ship casinos are open. They were closed on the Conquest 8:00am -11:00pm while in Curacao in December.

jakesnana Posted February 17, 2016 #19 Share Posted February 17, 2016 In Nassau, the casino will usually open if the ship is staying until the next morning. In Bermuda NCL got permission (and paid a fee) to have their casino opened in the evening while it was in port. Not all ships that call in Bermuda will be allowed to have their casinos opened while docked.
meatloafsfan Posted February 17, 2016 #20 Share Posted February 17, 2016 On the Pride Journey cruises the casino opened in the early evenings (usually around 4pm - though sometimes they put in the fun times as early as 2 or 3pm it was never that early) while we were in many ports late (I think it was at minimum Aruba and Curacao, and it might have even been some of the others).
