Sea Day Cruiser Posted October 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2005 We will be on a cruise next summer which begins and ends in Copenhagen. Does anyone know how far it is from the airport to the pier? Also how far is it from the airport to the city center and then from the city center to the pier? mike35 Posted October 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2005 Airport to city center is about a 10 minute cab ride; airport to pier - 15 minutes; city center to pier - about 10 minutes. The cabs take credit cards, and every driver we has spoke excellent English. Mike
AlFayNV Posted October 12, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2005 My wife and I were on a Copenhagen rt cruise last month. Here is some additional info about getting around: 1. Airport to City Center train station: Two one-way train tickets cost a total of $8.76. Tickets are sold at a counter on the main level of the airport (just ask someonoe where it is) and an elevator takes you down to the train station below. Around mid-train is a coach that accommodates passengers with bikes and luggage. The most challenging part of that short and pleasant ride into the city is lifting your luggage two steps onto the train from the platform. The City Center train station is across the street from the Tivoli. 2. City Center to Freeport pier: (Langelinie pier which is also used by cruise ships is somewhat closer to town.) Taxi fare was about $24.00 including a 20 per cent tip. The fare itself, thus, was about $20.00. 3. Freeport pier to airport: Taxi fare was $44.69 including a tip of about 20 per cent. There is no direct train service between town and pier nor between pier and the airport.
Sea Day Cruiser Posted October 12, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted October 12, 2005 Thank you both for the information. It sounds like Copenhagen will be easier to get around in than I expected.
MTemple212 Posted November 16, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2005 Sounds like Copenhagen will be easy to get around to me as well. We are really looking forward to this cruise that starts here. What time of the year or what cruiseline are you going on?
dbh62ark Posted November 16, 2005 #6 Share Posted November 16, 2005 Sorry if this was already mentioned--there are electric trains that can get you from one place to another quickly and easily. The cabs are very reasonable in price, but it can be hard to find one, so the trains are convenient. Like other Scandinavians, the Danes are very friendly and gladly assist tourists with directions. One girl that we asked in a park actually ran after us because she realized that she had given us slight misinformation, and she wanted to correct that. They're very sweet and charming. Have a great trip, Donna
