theriac Posted February 26, 2016 #151 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I enjoy Carnival but I would leave for NCL or one of the more upscale lines(never RCI, I don't know why just didn't like my experiences on their ships) if Carnival stops sending me Casino offers. I feel NCL is priced roughly the same as CCL but also have those drink/dining packages included. The more upscale lines seem appealing because there's not as many monsters running around screaming as loud as possible trying make the headache from my hangover worse. As of now it's hard to leave CCL because I enjoy the product being offered(when schools in session) for the most part and the price I get from the casino can't be beaten. So when those deals eventually dry up or are no longer appealing in price I will probably change lines.
TaDaaa! Posted February 26, 2016 #152 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I wasn't trying to be mean. Sorry if it came across that way. I'm only saying that if you are a smoker, and in a designated smoking area, you shouldn't be concerned about how non smokers look at you. If it makes you feel uncomfortable, maybe it's time to quit. Also, what do other countries have to do with it? We're talking about cruises out of America, doesn't really matter how other countries feel about smoking... That's like saying if you're a girl in a skimpy outfit you shouldn't complain if guy's are leering at you. And you've never seen a foreigner on a ship sailing out of the States, have you? Or a US person sailing out of a foreign country? How about just being respectful to everyone.
TaDaaa! Posted February 26, 2016 #153 Share Posted February 26, 2016 They didn't seem very interested and if they did contact the people it did nothing to stop them..... As I said no one smokes on balconies on Celebrity and the casino is also smoke free. I won't gamble on Carnival because of this along with a bunch of other people. We'll see how it works out in April. Since they are not very interested in smugglers or chair hogs breaking the rules why should it be any different for smokers? TaDaaa! Posted February 26, 2016 #154 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Smokers will justify their position. It's a documented, scientific fact that second hand smoking is quite harmful. Smokers are either ignorant of this fact, downplay the significance of it, or too selfish to care about the harm it causes others. I'm as anti-smoking as it gets. To be fair, I'm a former smoker - 2 to 3 packs a day, so smokers can't hold a lighter to any argument with me. There is a big difference between people sitting in an enclosed room with little air flow and sitting outside in at least a 20 mph breeze. Worlds apart. TaDaaa! Posted February 26, 2016 #155 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I was referring to what you said about people being rude and coughing. If they're in a smoking section, they shouldn't be bothered by what people who walk through the section do. I know I often cough, make faces or hold my breath if I have to walk through a smoking section. I can't help it, I'm super sensitive to smoke. Even if no one is smoking at that moment, the lingering smell makes me cough. If you are super sensitive to smoke, how about you don't walk through a smoking area. And please don't say you have to. There is always a different way to get from one non-smoking part of the ship to another non-smoking part of the ship without walking through a smoking area and pretending to have an asthma attack. First of all, if a girl wearing a skimpy bathing suit complains that guys are leering at her what would be done about it? Probably nothing. Same with smokers getting funny looks. If no one is saying or doing anything to you directly, there's really nothing anyone can do about it. I can't even comment on the other countries thing because I still don't get what it has to do with this conversation.

Lol I don't (pretend to have an asthma attack) I may cough if walking by smokers. a reflex and can't be helped. I'm talking about casinos on land, not on the ship. When we go to dinner, we have to walk through the casino to get to the restaurant. You will never find me in the casino a ship. I will go around however I can to get where I need to go. I also like how carnival has the outdoor smoking sections so they're on one side of the ship...They should do that in Vegas.

That's why I asked specifically what people were doing to be rude to the OP. And you never will if you can't understand people other than US citizens sail from US ports. I do understand that... Motorcycle Girl Posted February 27, 2016 #161 Share Posted February 27, 2016 I've already left cruising when the cruise lines took away outside smoking. Yes, my balcony is outside. Oh well.

august1963 Posted February 29, 2016 #164 Share Posted February 29, 2016 We have cruised every Spring Break for the last 6 years. I wish Carnival would change itineraries up a little bit during the weeks surrounding Easter break. I'm tired of going to the same places all the time. For this reason, I am getting ready to maybe book Royal next year....
aenglish1609 Posted February 29, 2016 #165 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Hey,I have seen so many people complaining over the last year about the Changes made by Carnival over the past couple years. I have also seen people say those things do not mater to them, and some people outright cheerleading for Carnival.....So as you all know Carnival keeps a eye out on these boards...so lets help Carnival(who has always been good to me and I like) learn before a change is to be made... What would be the last straw Carnival would have to do to make you move to another cruise Line or go AI or more land based vacations????? I will start with me.......Entertainment:mad: (except for Comedy Club and Newlywed game) and with RC coming with Ships with Riplines, flow riders... Ice/water shows...etc. However I am currently am trying to book Hawaii 2017 on Carnival so RC hasn't got me yet.......Lets Hear from You?????:D We have taken 4 on Carnival and are now trying NCL. I enjoy Carnival, but for us the price is comparable, with NCL actually being cheaper in the 2 we have booked now, plus they have the great perks going on right now(beverage package included, specialty dining, etc.) So it's mostly price right now. Of course I am not the kind of person who is"brand loyal" so I would try out any line for the right price. :D
glassman352 Posted February 29, 2016 #166 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Price. If I was looking to book I'd be doing research. I've seen lots of promotions which include free grautities and beverage packages. Figuring those in I'm starting to think carnival is no longer much lower. For a few dollars more I can get a more upscale experience I'm going to do it. My thoughts exactly!!
halos Posted March 2, 2016 #167 Share Posted March 2, 2016 You can still smoke on the balcony on HAL. I wasn't aware of that. That makes my choice to sail Princess instead of HAL to Alaska easy. I was wondering which of the two to try for that itinerary.... Thanks for the info.

I was wondering which of the two to try for that itinerary.... Thanks for the info. Glad I could be of assistance. Personally, I don't spend money on balconies (especially for Alaska....saved $4,000 by taking an OV instead of a balcony on my Alaska cruise) because I find myself only in the cabin to sleep, shower, or have fun with the wife and none of those can be done on the balcony. Dive Master Posted March 2, 2016 #169 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Eight days of "Sunshine" cured us of our Carnival addiction. First time in many years we have not had a cruise booked. When we do decide to cruise again we will look at returning to Celebriy or Holland America. Boozebabe Posted March 3, 2016 #170 Share Posted March 3, 2016 After returning home from our Glory cruise last week we are about to fall overboard. I am tired of the same old shows, the horrible American table, the price hike accompanied by reduced volume of cocktails, same old deck/pool games, no tablecloths resulting in wet tables and drips on our clothes, lack of Caribbean style bands while cruising in the Caribbean and same old destinations just for starters. There has to be people out there who can think of some more innovative ideas for the shows. Divas is the worst show we have ever seen. Singers were below average at best. In all fairness we are thoroughly pleased with the crew and cabins are more spacious than other lines we have cruised on. And we love the YTD and casual attire in the MDR. We have also given much consideration to a week long land based vacation as an alternative. We travel a lot and take at least one cruise per year. Our latest cruise was our 19th so we do have a lot to compare.
