Discovery - cabin refit

I'm assuming that all the cabins on Splendour are being refurbished? Does anyone know if photos available yet anywhere. Looking at booking for October as seems to be great value with AI and Dreamliner flights. I have been in Splendour and she was an elegant ship so happy to go on her again

If they are being refurbished it won't be till Thomson take her over so there won't be photos yet. She is still with RCI at the moment.

My thoughts are that since Splendour had a major refit in 2011 think they will give it a lick of paint in Tiu Colours and a bit of touch up, but I may be wrong:cool:

I wouldn't pin any hopes of extensive cabin refurbishments from Thomsons.

I would have thought that the view would be that if it was good enough for R.C.I then Thomson can get a few more years out of her before they need a the odd new carpet... Other than removing most of the casino of course to provide more areas of essential seating.

I am still surprised that they decided to alter the name from Splendour to Discovery, they could have saved a drop of paint there.

Having said that, this ship does look a step up from anything Thomson has had before and I for one am looking forward to sailing her one day.

I have spoken to our cruise team directly and they have advised that we would not be able to confirm the refurbishment plans at this stage. I do apologise we are unable to advise you at this stage, but please query this at a later date and we can check if these plans have been ‘set in stone’ so to speak.

So that's a no to cabin refurbs then!!! They surely must know at this stage it's only a few weeks till they begin the refit. Doesn't matter I am sure the refurb they do will only enhance Splendour

Even without any refit it will be a real step up for Thomson; having been on Destiny, Celebration and Splendour it's a far superior offering.

We're booked on it for 18th June so if Thomson has added their entertainment skills to the ship then I reckon it'll be damn good.

Can't wait.

And no crazy 15% on everything! What's not to like?:

I believe Thomson productions & entertainment is highly rated against most other cruise lines, only let down by the venues on their existing ships such as sightlines & pillars in the way. Discovery looks to have a decent "proper" theatre so hopefully the best of both.

Some of the Thomson shows I've seen have been West End standard; far better than anything I've seen on RCI or Celebrity.

The Discovery theatre will make them even better as a spectacle.

yes !whatever Thomson lack in new ships ice rinks etc they make up with the entertainment shows

We sail on her in July and have a junior suite, (it's our 50th wedding anniversary). Done as much research as I can on the cabins, (sorry , staterooms), and even if they don't refurb, I don't think I will be too disappointed. From what I have looked at, the rooms are very much like Celebrity, given that it is a Royal Caribbean ship at present this is no surprise. Ok, looks like it's a bit dated but compared to the rest of the Thomson fleet, it's already streets ahead. Looking forward to trying it.

We are talking Thomson here....! They sold the Dream as a "Platinum Ship" a couple of years ago & although we loved her, she certainly wasn't Platinum!
