lazeyey Posted February 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) Hi all. I'm not very good with words and writing, but I want to make a post about my Anthem of the Seas cruise I'm on now, and answer any questions anyone might have. I cant find the anthem class boards so please move this if there is one somewhere. This will not be a 'regular' review like I see a lot on here. But I will do my best to provide any information or pictures. So about the cruise, it's a 12 night southern Caribbean cruise. I am traveling with my DH (38), daughter (18 months) and myself (33). We left Newark yesterday and now it's really early, like 630am, and I'm lying in bed waiting for my family to wake up. First I want to say a couple of things that I noticed people on here had questions about. There are WOW bands, not sure the price though. And, the food so far has been absolutely AMAZING despite what anyone might say. The Windjammer is the best Windjammer I've ever seen on the 4 cruises I've been on. Not only is the place huge, but the variety of food was unbelievable! Like wow, they have really wowed me so far with the food lol. Sorenttos (sp?) is SO good I can't believe it. Being day 2 and all, I don't know about other places but I will say this, I can't wait to try everything else. It's quite hard to see anyone who looks younger than us on this ship and I love that. There are mostly senior citizens and a few have been kinda rude but it's not a big deal to me because I'm having too much fun so it's not bothering me. The only other problem I have with our trip (and it is super minor) so far, is that adventure ocean is closed because of damage from the storm last week or the week before. So they only offer in room babysitting that I didn't want in the first place lol, but it's really not a huge problem. My daughter is so well behaved that I honestly will be fine if we have to watch her for the entire cruise. I'm going to leave you guys with that and if you have any questions please ask me. I will answer them all as soon as I can. I LOVE this ship. It's seriously, so far, the nicest one I've been on and by far my favorite. It reminds me of the freedom class ships but WAAAAY better. And to think I didn't want to sail any other class or ships than the oasis :) Edited February 22, 2016 by lazeyey
Clarea Posted February 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Thanks for reporting back. Do you see any evidence of the damage due to the storm? Are the iFly and North Star working normally?
skrapngal Posted February 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2016 I would love to see pictures of any scrapbooking kits and albums available onboard. You should be able to see them at the photo shop and/or the craft venue if past experience is any indication.

Are the iFly and North Star working normally? The only evidence of damage I have seen is adventure ocean. And some duct tape at 270. I don't know about ifly and North Star yet, but no one has said anything about them and as far as I know I still have reservations. I'll let you know later today after I check. vaborn2cruise Posted February 22, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 22, 2016 I read on another thread the Coast Guard boarded and the Anthem had to dock in Norfolk. Is this true and do you know why? Thanks and I look forward to your review and pictures.

Did not think ANY ship could compare to those. :) I'm glad my post can make people excited :). I never thought that ANY ship could compare to the allure and oasis either. I am seriously shocked!! It didn't look like there was anything like that on the tv but I will check and let you know. And you gave me the perfect excuse to sneak off to the casino, so I thank you for that 😃
DonnaK Posted February 22, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Can you find out how much longer the cruise director Abe will be onboard, and who will be coming on as the next CD? (March 7 or 19? Dru Pavlov - but he is reported to be on Allure now?)

svillager Posted February 22, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Thank you very much for your post - we will be on the next cruise. I have heard the puzzle room is also damaged - has it been fixed ? Also have they said how long Adventure Ocean will be closed - I am going on board with two granddaughters. I have been on Anthem - I was on the cruise that got extended by the snow storm - and love it - Enjoy your cruise. Svillager

swiss2619 Posted February 22, 2016 #20 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Hi Lazeyey, I was on Quantum last year so I am looking forward to cruising on Anthem this year. I have no doubt you will have a great time! Question for you - The Windjammer had fresh baked (and hot!) cookies every day at lunch time on the Quantum. SO good! I thought I read somewhere they no longer did that. Next time you are in Windjammer around lunchtime, will you check and see if they are still rolling out those fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, please? Enjoy your cruise with your family! Thanks, Swiss
robtulipe Posted February 22, 2016 #21 Share Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) What is the puzzle room? From http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1990 3. Get "locked up" with fellow cruisers and solve puzzles to escape. A great way to unleash your competitive side or make new friends, "Escape from the Future" is a free game that teams adult passengers with friends or strangers who must crack codes in order to find a key and "escape the room." The caveat: you only have one hour. Inspired by the land-based game Puzzle Break, it's cruise ship trivia with a twist -- and a fun, brainy alternative to usual pool activities like the world's sexiest man and belly flop competitions. svillager Posted February 22, 2016 #22 Share Posted February 22, 2016 I also enjoyed those fresh baked cookies on Quantum. On my Anthem cruise a few weeks ago, they had the chocolate chip cookies, but try as I might, I always got there minutes after they disappeared. I don't know if it was my timing, or if they were preparing less than on Quantum. Svillager

No doubt these were freshly baked at one time, whether these were out on the serving counter then is the real question . ;)

No doubt these were freshly baked at one time, whether these were out on the serving counter then is the real question . ;) On Quantum last year, the ovens were right behind the counter as you walked in and the cookies were going in and out as fast as you can imagine. I thought I heard they did away with this. I can't imagine why. They would actually take the tray out of the office and then after setting for a bit, they would transfer the hot cookies to a large tray where you could use the tongs to pile them up on your plate. They always disappeared rapidly so i can't imagine why they would stop doing....oh, well! Thanks, swiss

I haven't heard anything. They said they are aiming to have Adventure Ocean opened by February 26 so I can't see it being closed for your cruise. They have in room baby sitting and also have other options for kids to play. They have toys to lend out. I am so jealous that you can do this twice so closely together. That will be me when I retire, that's for sure.
