Confused...How do you get an upgrade, without having to cancel

So I am trying to get my relatives an upgrade. They have booked inside cabins, but now prices have dropped, where for only $200 more (entire trip) they could get a balcony. Had them call the TA. They said the only way to do so, is to cancel their current reservation, but that would cost them dearly, like 75% or something like that, because we are so close to sailing (April 3). So Pro's, how does one get upgraded?

You might have to actually wait until 2-3 weeks before sail date. I know when I sailed on the POA I started getting emails about 3 weeks from my sail date. When you call, ask what upsells they have available. I have never gotten one, but I have read about people getting some pretty cheap inside to balcony upsells.

Is the price you are looking at for "NEW Booking Only"? If so you cannot get the price.

I go thru the cruise line itself and they let me change to different cabins all the time. Give NCL a call an see what they can do if u get any flack ask to speak with a supervisor and if dissatisfied ask to speak wth theirs ( the squeaky wheel get the grease) lol good luck

Thank you all! We will keep trying. We are on the Getaway, and there are tons of balcony's still available. We (Hubster & I)Already have our Aft Balcony reserved. I think we will wait until3 weeks out, and try to get them upgraded.
