Escape New Supper Club Show

Cabaret as in the Liz Minnelli movie where she is a dancer in the 30's in **** Germany.

Or A Cabaret as in a collection of singing and high energy dancing with no story line?

That's exactly what I was wondering when I read this. There is a huge difference between Cabaret and a cabaret.

On some (maybe all?) sailings, during some of the nights that the John Hughes show wasn't playing in The Supper Club, they used that venue for a different dinner show called Brenda Braxton Live, which was a cabaret show... Her contract is up and she's leaving the ship now, but I can't help but wonder if someone didn't get their info confused.

This just showed up today on MyNCL. There were two shows available for booking (on 3/23 at 5:15 and 8:30). There was only one night available. We still have For The Record in the Supper Club for our cruise but Brenda Braxton is gone which frees up a night in there.

Just to share - here is the description for "Supper Club Cabaret" This is the only description they provide: "Enjoy the ambiance in the Supper Club, our intimate dinner-theater experience featuring a variety of musical song and dance entertainment."

That is the description on a cabaret show.

Sound like something they threw together and not worth yet another upcharge. Not a "Broadway" show

Are the other shows not full of sing and dancing? Does NCL really think that's all people want to watch. Come on a bit of that is nice but not everything.

Unlike the other dinner show venues on other ships, this one is specifically designed in the cabaret style, so it actually makes sense. I do know that people paid to see the Brenda Braxton cabaret show, but I never went, so I have no idea how full the Supper Club was for these performances.

  • 2 weeks later...

I hope they get it together with this venue. I've read time and time again that the food isn't that great but the For The Record show was so worth it. Now that it's moved to the main theater their going to need something just as awesome to keep guest coming. My booking opened up for it just today but I'm holding off on reserving the 'unknown'.

This was just posted on my sailing Escape April 16, 2016 a charge of $25.91Canadian Dollars so probably around $19.99 US all inclusive.

So,,, the second show in the Supper Club has always been called the cabaret (with a small "c").

Up until 3/19, the cabaret show is done by Brenda Braxton from After Midnight. It was Brenda and a trio from the After Midnight band. And currently plays on the nights that both After Midnight and For the Record are dark. It comes with a different 5-course menu.

The show is only being offered on one night on our May cruise, so it looks like small "c" vs. large "C". Whatever it is, we booked it. We'll find out more once we get onboard.

If you pre-book and find out it's not something you want to see once info is released, can you cancel with a full refund?

Hello,

I just got off the phone with NCL and the new supper club show is Cabaret. Rep was surprised bc she hadn't heard the announcement yet but it was posted as the new option for my sailing.... She said to expect the announcement and details soon.

Thought I'd share...

Wife & I sailed 2/27-3/5. We generally cruise 2 - 3 times a year so we are comparing this cruise to the others. While we were very comfortable on the ship, it seemed like NCL has changed its business model of providing outstanding "Free" entertainment and is now incorporating a $ 27.95 pp plus gratuity for their supper club shows. We saw The Brat Pack (great show) and Brenda Braxton (very disappointing) and really felt like making a complaint after her show. We also purchased tickets to see After Midnight but cancelled after this performance. Her show consisted of 15 minutes of music from a three piece "band" and 40 minutes of Brenda. The food was ok but we really felt this show and performance was a rip-off. Not enough Broadway as advertised. The Million Dollar Quartet was a regular (free) show and well worth seeing. Make your reservations for that show. The dueling piano's and comedy shows were fantastic. The Duo in the Atrium was so-so, nothing like the duo on the Breakaway. The band by the pool was okay, nothing spectacular....The casino Staff was the usual friendly but stoic and had trouble calculating the bets and payoffs on the Craps table. If you play Craps, know your payoffs......
