Warm Breezes Posted March 3, 2016 #26 Share Posted March 3, 2016 I just got a refund of $140 for our upcoming July cruise on the Dream. Price keeps going down for us. It is actually cheaper to get a cove balcony room then it is a oceanview right now. Crazy! Maybe its just price hikes for the Vista because everyone (almost everyone) wants to book her. I watched prices on Dream and 5 other cruises (CCL, NCL, RCCL) for May since July of last year and finally booked a couple weeks ago when I got doctor's ok. Dream was the only cruise that dropped in price from the time I started watching....all others went up, some as much $1000 for 2 inside rooms we were pricing. Ended up getting a balcony and an inside and was still less than all the other cruises with 2 insides.
ready2cruzagain Posted March 3, 2016 #27 Share Posted March 3, 2016 We have 3 cruises booked, 2 on NCL and 1 on Carnival. In the last 2 weeks the prices have skyrocketed. If we were to book today, they would be almost $1,000 more than what we paid. This is during a slow part of the year too, except for the one during Thanksgiving. The prices have spiked because these cruises are selling out fast. As another poster stated, supply and demand.

This is during a slow part of the year too, except for the one during Thanksgiving. The prices have spiked because these cruises are selling out fast. As another poster stated, supply and demand. This is why I booked our NCL Escape cruise yesterday for Sept 2017. The 2 cruises that jumped the highest out of the 6 I was watching over since July were NCL Gem and NCL Getaway. They jumped up an additional $1068 and $650 respectively from July to February for 2 inside rooms. I never once saw them drop in price only increase. Since we had a NCL Cruise Rewards deposit that had to be used by Oct 2017 and we just booked our family cruise on CCL Dream, we decided to go ahead and find the NCL cruise that best fit our schedule and wants before Oct. 2017 and book now. We wouldn't be out any additional money since we already had the rewards deposit and if the price dropped or it ended up not working with our schedules next year we could still cancel and rebook without penalty until July 2017. If it works out for us, we could possibly be saving a lot of money based on what I saw happening with the other 2 NCL ships I was watching for the past year. CatlinSTJ Posted March 3, 2016 #29 Share Posted March 3, 2016 Our cove Balconies on the Vista went from about $2400 to $3000 each. I hate dealing with the new mobile interface, but the last time I checked a couple of weeks ago there were still plenty of cabins in that category left on our sailing. Next cruise: Carnival Vista - July 2016
tiggerman101 Posted March 3, 2016 #30 Share Posted March 3, 2016 We booked Vista for this June using the Platinum offer last year. The price for that cruise is now $400 less than where we started including offsetting the original OBC. Received a call from the upsell fairy today to move to a balcony on 8 from an inside on 9. The change in cost is still less than the original inside. Carnival in the Med is great because they get so cheap. I did a 12 day Europe cruise on the Magic that we booked when it was announced. We booked a Oceanview at first. By the time we sailed, we were in a Spa balcony cabin with $1,200 OBC from price drops. No lie. I then did the Sunshine in the Med and had an Aft-Wrap for a ridiculous price. If the Vista wasn't doing ports I have already been to, I would jump on it. Keys2Heaven Posted March 3, 2016 #31 Share Posted March 3, 2016 Price drops out of the picture for us. All aft cabins are sold out for our 2017 Vista sailing. Did early saver and paid roughly $1200/pp for Havana aft-view extended balcony (not wrap around).

canadaman111 Posted March 3, 2016 #33 Share Posted March 3, 2016 This is why I booked already for Feb. 2018. I don't have to be worried about prices going up. A few price cuts would be nice though......

lemansz20 Posted March 3, 2016 #36 Share Posted March 3, 2016 BOOK EARLY, thats the best suggestion I can make to anyone. If your guy calls you with a promotion, BOOK IT. I ran into this same situation, got the call from my guy letting me know I have a promotion, I let it expire and the cruise I wanted, went up $400.00 . Never waiting till last minute again, its obvious carnival wants to fill the ships earlier, so its just way cheaper earlier now.
pbmsmile Posted March 3, 2016 #37 Share Posted March 3, 2016 We booked on the day the 2018 Vista sailings opened for $2991 total deck 7 Havana wrap around premium corner balcony. There are only 4 total on the ship - 2 on deck 6 and 2 on deck 7 so I wanted to jump on them. Today I looked and there is only 1 on deck 6 left and it is $3300. I will not be able to utilize any early saver I am sure because they will sell out the category...but I am excited to wait ...only 700 plus days left!! LOL :p
muggo11 Posted March 7, 2016 #38 Share Posted March 7, 2016 Can't mention another site by name but add cruise plus the things that swim in the ocean to go to a place that tracks changes in prices by cruise and cabin class. Plus ditto for early saver. Glad I booked an aft balcony on Vista over six months ago.
