ckmedsec Posted March 5, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2016 Hi there, a small beach is located next to the port. As you exit the port, turn left, you will see a small sandy beach. No need to pay 40 euros each for some swim time. Other nice beaches in the area are Kourouta beach, Skafidia beach and Agios Andreas. You will need a taxi to get there but they are beautiful. Do a google search on them. The port of Katakolon had a cantina at the end of the parking lot with really good seafood.

SMVP_travellers Posted March 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2016 You can also go to Bouka. It is a small organised beach with a very good restaurant! It is a beach for locals and it has a great view to the sea. The negative thing is that you have to hire a taxi. Also some local travel agencies offer shore excursions including some of these beaches and you can combine and other things to do. We had a great time there! filthiest Posted June 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Which beach did you wind up going to ? We will be here on a cruise stop in the beginning of July and would like to relax at a beautiful beach, also! Hi Leigh Having previously been to the port of Katakolon, and having visited Olympia, we are also keen to go to the beach there. We previously went to the beach closest to the port, and its not a nice beach. This time we are planning to go to Kourouta beach. It is a 20-25 min drive there, and P&O organise excursions there, but £26 per person is still quite a lot to charge for a point A to B ride. I have been enquiring costs with several of the taxi companies in Katakolon, and the only reasonable one I found was George Taxi Tours. We are looking to share a taxi there and back for the day (July 4th). Is this the same day that you will be arriving there?
bearette Posted June 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 20, 2017 You may be better off renting a car if there are four of you, we rented a car, but went to Olympia. We had two kids so we took our time and let the kids roam around, but you could beach hop or visit the nearby winery.
