Can you see Atlantis from the cruise ship dock??

My DH, DD12 and I will be in Nassau on the Disney Wonder in a couple of weeks. We're doing the snorkel excursion with Stuart Cove's at 12:00 so we'll have a couple of hours to kill before they pick us up. I would really like to see Atlantis but I don't know if it's worth it. We really won't have time to take the Digs tour and I don't know that I want to spend almost $90 to spend just an hour there (which is probably about all the time we would have factoring in the time it takes for the water taxi ride there and back) but I would like to at least get a close look of Atlantis and get some pictures of it. Is it too far away from the dock to be able to get any decent pictures? Stuart Cove's said they could pick us up at Atlantis at the Royal Towers which would save us from having to go back to the dock but I've read that you can't walk around the grounds without being a guest so I'm a little nervous about arranging a pick up at Atlantis only to find out that we're asked to leave because we're not a guest - not missing our snorkel excursion is definitely more important to us than getting a brief glimpse of Atlantis!! I know what we should probably do is just spend a couple of leisurely hours either on the ship or around the straw market area prior to our excursion.

If you want to check out Atlantis, I suggest you take a taxi to the Coral Towers Entrance, then walk INSIDE the lobbies, thru the casino, check out the public aquariums at the Great Hall of Water restaurant (downstairs) then continue to the Royal Towers Lobby for pick up. You ocan do this in under 2 hours. You'll be able to view some of the grounds from the large windows or public balconies along the way.

You can see the Atlantis from the cruiseship, but not close enough to really see what it's all about.

We did what Scubagirl suggested last December. We actually took the ferry over but that takes a bit too long if you're in a rush so a regular taxi would be perfect. We walked through all the areas she suggested and there is a small section of the outdoor area where security will let you walk and see a few of the outdoor pools of fish. The guards are posted everywhere but they basically let you look on the outside from above at the same free aquariums you see on the inside. It was definitely worth doing for the price of a taxi. It's a pretty remarkable place.

It also looks pretty amazing from cruise ship as you're pulling into port. Have fun.
