Opinions on Glory Room #8257

I just upgraded from an oceanview to a balcony for $160 (was going to be only $140, but was looking like I was going to end up over the Casino).

I got room #8257 after going through like 10 different room choices with the lady I talked to. I feel good about it being just rooms above and below it, but I am slightly concerned about the elevators being right there. Anyone have any good or bad experiences about how much noise will be caused by the elevators?

She said I could call and switch rooms if I saw a different one available that I liked better in the same category. Is that normal? I feel like I've been reading around here that you can only upgrade or change rooms after final payment if you get the call from them?

This all started because I tried to e-mail my PVP and apparently he is no longer with the Company .. the lady I spoke with said I didn't need one, that I could just call the main line if I need anything.

My main questions is just any ideas on if this was a good room choice? And also if anyone thinks there is benefit to having a PVP, should I call and make them reassign me one?

Thanks!

Hey,

Good job on getting a balcony for that price difference.

Cabins above and below is excellent.

Though you are close to the elevator you won't hear them. What you will probably hear is people talking loudly in the hall. People often remember to use indoor voices a couple of cabins further down the hall.:o

oh and I have yet to keep a pvp. Every time I have decided to cruise I have wanted to set everything up on the day and time the family is together. Sometimes that means Saturday afternoon, sometimes Sunday evening so who I get when I call Carnival is never the same. It has never been a problem. With questions, changes... I just call the main line and get whoever is available.

Thanks for the input! I was surprised by how good of a deal it was. We get a discounted rate because my husband works for UPS (I think they call it the interline rate?) but last time I tried to call to see the cost to upgrade it was way more than the price difference online between an oceanview and a balcony. This time, our prior discounted rate was now above what the guarantee oceanview room is currently, but after the upgrade we are paying less than the current guarantee balcony room rate .. so I am happy!

Glad to hear about the PVP! My only thing was I thought I may be more likely to get an upgrade/upsell offer if i had one? Although at this point, unless it were a free upgrade, we likely wouldn't take it since we're in a balcony now unless it were something ridiculously cheap.
