GoBig Promotion Question

Hi all,

My wife and I recently booked a cruise on Silhouette and chose the "Go Big Choose 1" with the Classic Beverage Package. I definitely think the Classic Beverage Package yields the most value for us, but I'm wondering if we should have opted for the "Go Better Choose 2" option for the additional benefit of prepaid tips or $150 pp onboard credit. Would it be worth it? Can the onboard spending be used in the Casino? And approximately how much are we looking at spending if we paid the tips without the promotion? The cabin will be in Concierge Class (C3) if that matters. We were able to upgrade from a regular balcony to CC at no extra charge as the price on the CC cabin went down to what we paid for the regular guaranteed balcony we initially opted for.

Also, do you think Celebrity would allow us to change this after we've already paid in full? We booked direct with Celebrity. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Weather or not you should get the free gratuities or the OBC depends on the length of the cruise. If it is 7 nights, it makes sense to get the OBC as it is $15 per person per day for the upgrade. (So, for $105 pp you can get $150 pp) If it is around 12 nights, you just about break even with either choice and over 12 nights, you are better off not getting either option as it will cost you more than what you get out of it. I believe tips are $12.95 pp per day but may be a bit more for concierge class....just cannot remember.

The OBC can be used in the casino but on some ships (and I understand they are rolling this out on all ships), you have to use the credits they give against your OBC in the casino. You can keep your winnings.

If you pay at least $1 more and the promotion is still in affect, you can upgrade after final payment....so you might still be able to get in on the better deal. So, maybe look for a cabin that is a bit more than what you paid and you can upgrade to that and hopefully take advantage of this promotion. If it is too much of hassle, I wouldn't bother for the go better 2 if it will cost you $15 per night per person and as mentioned, especially if your cruise is more than 7 nights. With a 7 night cruise, you will save $45 pp but if your next upgrade is $50 pp just to get this $45, you really aren't saving anything.

If you are going to get $150 OBC per person and it is only going to cost you around $200 total for the upgrade why wouldn't you? You are getting a free $100 or so from them for doing that. We did the exact thing you did. We chose the Classic Drink Package just to not have to worry about drink costs and then paid for the extra option for the OBC. We know we would spend $200 on board anyway, so why not get an extra $100 on top of that? We will upgrade our Classic Package to the Premium Package for about $11 per day so it will easily cover the cost of that.
