Wine store in St. Maarten?

Hi,

 

I'm sailing next week on the surf and would like to take two bottles on board. Is there a wine store near the port with a decent selection of reds?

Hi, Happy Sailing. Yes there is a rather large liquor store with a nice selection of French wines. If you go all the way up the Main St. to where it ends, you will go right to the piers if go left just up a bit on the left is the store. Do I know the name, or the street no but I was there in December and it is easy to find, we were staying at the Holland House Hotel it was a 5-10 minute walk max and I found it easily. If you are in a cab tell the driver he will stop just run in. Not bad prices, I bought French Champagne, I usually pay 40-50 dollsrs home I paid less than 30.

Not sure if this is the same place, but this is what I wrote in my review:

 

Just a short walk will take you to Caribbean Liquors & Tobacco, located at 8 W.G. Buncamper Road, Philipsburg, St.Maarten. Not an extensive selection, but what they did have was nice and very reasonably priced.

 

Thank goodness I put it in my review - otherwise I would never remember it now - and it's been less than two months since our cruise!!!

I worked and lived in Anguilla for a while (I know, it was a tough job...). My treat on a Saturday morning was to take the ferry to Marigot in French St Martin, have a good French lunch, and then pick up a couple of good bottles of wine at Le Gout de Vin on Rue Anguille. If you get to Marigot it is worth checking out.
