Eiansmomma Posted March 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2016 We are going to take a 4 hour water tour while in St Maarten in November. Once our water tour is done we have the option of being dropped off in Marigot instead of port. We are in port from 9-6 so time shouldn't be a problem. Is there lots of interesting things to see in Marigot? Would our time be better spent in another area (Philipsburg for example)? Open for suggestions! Good bars...good restaurants...interesting shops etc

Good bars...good restaurants...interesting shops etc Lunch on the water at the Marina Royale in Marigot is a great idea and you will find some shops open as well but the majority close in the afternoon for siesta. In Phillipsburg the shops will remain open and there are some nice options for lunch there as well. The atmosphere is quite different. Staying in Marigot would be a nice change. Rare Hlitner Posted March 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2016 We do understand that there are some big fans of Marigot here on CC. But having spent time in Condos in Grand Case (not far from Marigot) we have never been big fans. Yes, Marigot has a few decent cafes/restaurants (Grand Case has better restaurants) and there is a still some charm left in the town. But we have never been as impressed with the shops as many....and as has been posted, several shops will close in the early afternoon. If shopping is your goal, Philipsburg has much more to offer than Marigot and its a 15 minute walk to the port or a short water taxi ride. And if you are dropped in Marigot you will still have to pay a taxi to get you back to the port or town. Hank
