Heirloom Posted March 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Just checked latest reports as we plan to set up next cruise. In addition to Mexico, quite a few cruise ship stops are now listed, including some favorites like Aruba. etc. We may have to buy a ton of mosquito spray !!!!!! http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/zika-travel-information
evandbob Posted March 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Zika is present in all the areas that had dengue and chikungunya bearing mosquitoes. Use DEET based repellent spray and wear long pants and long sleeve shirts if going into forested areas. Best way to avoid mozzies is to stay in neck high waters at the beach. Savlamara Posted March 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2016 You should bring mosquito repellent and/or bands on a cruise whether there is a virus present or not. Usually when any virus breaks out it takes time for them to recognize it so its better to be prepared then find out after the fact! At most we always buy a pack of the armbands before every cruise. They are simple to use and we wear one on our ankle and one on our wrist and our bodies are covered.
