Celebrate3 Posted March 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2016 We sailed the Getaway 2 years ago and loved it. Planning 2017 cruise and are going back and forth between the new Escape or the Epic. We like the Western that the Epic runs from Port Canaveral and are leaning towards that. How does the Epic compare to the Getaway as far as onboard activities? I compared online and they look similar except for no rope course on the Epic (not a big deal for me). Suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Demonyte Posted March 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2016 Epic is a ship that divides opinions the most, most people either love or hate her because of design decisions that many people dislike and many of which were fixed when designing the Breakaway class. As you stated, outside activities are pretty similar on all megaships compared to older, smaller ships. Personally if choosing from those two ships, I'd go with Escape. Rare BirdTravels Posted March 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2016 Between the two ships, I would recommend the Escape. More, new different things to do and places to eat. NCL has tried to incorporate the features that "contemporary" cruises are looking for on the Escape. We were on the Epic in October 2015 (4th time on the Epic) and on the Escape in November 2015. We'll be on the Escape for the second time in May 2016.
